Someone slashed my tire

Well, my dealer called and said it looked like a clean cut like someone punctuated it.

That does NOT look like a clean cut, you have a jagged spot in it.

Call the tire company (Pirelli) or take it to a local tire shop that sells them and have them inspect it.

Your dealer most likely doesn't want to foot the bill for a bad tire.

No. Sidewall punctures are a strict no-no any more.

Well looking at the pictures I see and not having it in front of me to inspect closer... I would say the odds are greater that you ran over something. Looks like it entered the shoulder then deflected to the sidewall. You can tell it was at possibly a higher speed because the initial impact was chunked, (loss of rubber where it entered) as it runs along the shoulder. (Top Impact) Then deflected ran between the ply to the sidewall and exited. Another reason I think it was at higher speeds it didn't stay in the tire.

Not that my inspection will help but I was a territory rep for GoodYear and Michelin for 20 plus years and have adjusted more tires than you can even dream of. Just my two cents.

Looks like ice on it to me around the shoulder, in the bigger pic thats not the close up you can see ice on other areas

ICE I assure you has nothing to do with this. I opened both pictures in another window and blew them up on a 30 inch monitor. This isn't cracking due to the summer tread compound either. I do know that something entered the tire on the top shoulder mark. Clear easy to spot higher speed entry. Entered from left to right showing the car was moving forward. Low speeds more than likely the tread would have left a flap over the entry unless the OP pulled it off. Clear that the bottom puncture came from the inside out. I would say this is a road hazard and not from a person. IMO...

Yes Sir... was trained by both GoodYear and Michelin. You have to know what to look for because if I don't, it cost them money. I have to say Michelin's class was pretty awesome, I learned a lot. The monitor... Wasn't cheap but I didn't pay for it... I have been with Dell for 8 years they paid 750 towards my home office. I have a 30 and dual 23's. Need lots of desktop for all the programs I work.

Any how... I haven't looked at Pirelli's road hazard warranty but I would look into that. Since your dealer thinks it's vandalism... lol (Because that keeps them from adjusting it)... I would go to a local Pirelli dealer and tell them to look at it. Just play stupid... See if they won't help you out. Not sure if you have a Discount Tire or not... Good Luck...

I used to live in St. Leonard, MD...nice quiet little town, at least it used to be. It was a 50 minute drive to work but the peace & quiet was well worth it. As far the slashed tire...sucks dude, really, really sucks.

Yah but MD drivers bar none are better drivers then DC/VA drivers. Holy F the idiots that live in the District and NOVA. NOVAs don't even understand wtf an acceleration ramp is. DC drivers just hit everything.
