Hey all I'm new to the forums and haven't posted to much but I would like some opinions from GT owners with non performance pack cars. Do you find the ride too cushy or is it just right? I'm debating weather or not I'm going to go with the Performance pack or not. I enjoy a spirited drive on a back country road but to be honest I never really track my cars and I'm wondering if it would be a better fit for me to have the base suspension with a more relaxed drive. Currently I'm driving a 14 focus ST which imo isn't really a hard riding car but when I test drove a base GT with the PP I found the ride firm and a little harsh even though I was driving on ideal pavement with no pot holes or cracks. I do a shit tonne of driving for my weekly commute and I'm worried the ride might get a little to jarring over time. This isn't to say I couldn't add things to a base suspension car but I think it would be harder to change up a PP car versus a stock one. Idk I might be over thinking the whole thing and would love just to have a GT.

Anyways sound off and let me know what you think

I'm curious about this as well. But because not everyone will have the same feeling, I'd suggest doing test drives in a GT with the performance pack and without and make the best decision for you. Because what may be soft to you may be firm to someone else. I myself plan to do at least a half dozen different test drives before I submit my order.

+1 to what he said. I'm on some lowering springs myself and I find my ride to be "just right". It's not bouncy or anything, but it's not too stiff either.

Maybe i'm not used to sports cars but even my base gt is a "hard ride" relative to any other car obviously. getting into an suv feels like heaven over speedbumps, potholes, any tiny thing on the road. I didn't even know the PP was a harder ride.

Yeah do a test drive. IMO if you don't track the car you won't need a PP. But i'm also cheap and figured that the 2-3grand (i believe, since Canadian more expensive) could be put towards other things you'd probably like more.

Base GT here :-)

I love the base GT so far. I am going on almost 3 months of ownership.
I drive every other day 30 miles roundtrip to work and then fun trips on the weekend. I love the way it rides, handles and love the sound of that Coyote up there.

And to boot my MPG is 19.3 lifetime which I did not expect. I do have fun on the weekends but still get really good gas mileage for this type of car.

I smile every time I get in this baby.

I thought the PP was a little too soft, but my 350Z has a very harsh ride, so I'm used to that.

If you test drove the PP and thought it was a bit too firm, and if you don't really want any of the other stuff in the package, then it seems prudent to get the car without the PP. You can always add parts similar to the PP via the aftermarket/Ford Racing catalog.

If you do want some of the PP goodies, then the decision is a bit trickier.

I drove both a GT Premium PP and a GT Premium. With the PP I did not like the 3.73's at all. Way too short on the gearing with this transmission. I ended up ordering a GT Premium and upgraded the wheels and 401A package. Glad I did, love the car and the gearing is perfect with the 3.31's. Stock GT brakes are great and put my '05 GT brakes to shame.

I've been driving my GT Premium non-PP since about March, and I have really loved the way the stock suspension has felt and handled. Even compared to some of my friends 4 door family cars I have preferred mine, but then again I have literally driven sports cars since I was 16. But I would test drive both, but from the sound of it you are going to prefer the non-PP. Good luck!

Get lowering springs it reduces bounce and looks great, handles much better too.

I feel like the GT is pretty well equipped in its base form. I actually like a firm ride like the stiffness of a lowering spring, do the steeda springs help provide that feel to the base GT.

I have an Eco with pp right now and I like how it feels quite a bit, but If I go GT I don't know if I want to spring for the pp

I'd say for a DD the standard suspension is AOK. Firm but not harsh. If you wanted something just a bit more aggressive, lowering springs, 1" is plenty and looks killer too.

I have a non PP GT premium as well. I think the ride quality is perfect. Ford got it right in so many ways with this car.

I battled those same questions during my month long process of finding a 15, which I had decided I was gonna DD. I originally wanted a base PP car with Recaro seats, but I bought my wife a 2016 Titanium Fusion with cooled seats and decided those were a necessary option which killed the Recaro idea. So premium it was, didn't want the adaptive cruise and other "stuff" so 400A was my package.

I'm a huge Mustang fan, and have always tracked my cars. Whether it be drag strip or road course I enjoy them both, so my instinct was get the PP, but I knew I was buying this to DD. I currently have 3 other Mustangs none of which are my DD, so IF I got another I had to drive it. I listened to and tried to read everybody's comments about their PP car good and bad. I have been in 3.73 cars, so I knew that traction and mileage are the biggest complaints. Being I wanted to DD it, mileage was a considering factor. I didn't buy a Mustang to get good mileage, but it is nice to have that ability if you want.

So between the gears, more harsh ride, increased maintenance costs(bigger brakes, more oil capacity, staggered 19" tires you can't rotate), less fuel economy, and then the $2500 increase in sticker price I talked myself out of the PP. There was only one option I really wanted after eliminating the PP, and that was the 3.55's. I drove buddies a buddies 300A 3.31 M6 car after I put his exhaust on and just didn't really like the way the car ran, but it only had about 400 miles on it.

So I searched and searched for a 400A 3.55 M6, and the only way I could find them had a ton of options I did't want, and frankly didn't want to drive the price up $2k-$3k to get the gears. And this was in late June, so Ford wasn't taking orders for anymore 2015 models and I didn't want to wait until Fall for a 16. So in the end I wound up with a 400A 3.31 M6, no options, just a "base" Premium GT. After spending more than just a "test drive" in a 3.31 gear car I really like them, and my lifetime average MPG is 24.0( 2400 miles). I took a 700 mile trip in the car and averaged 28.2 at 80-85 mph with the A/C and cooled seats just a blowing.

Looking back, not getting a PP was the best decision I made on the car. The nice ride and efficiency of the 3.31's far outweigh the PP upgrades for what I do. And looking forward, as soon as I can fully convince the wife I need a Procharger, the 3.31's will be perfect for boost.

I come from a PP SHO. My non PP GT is stiffer then the SHO. To me it is just right.

Now, where I live, i have your calssic subdivision concrete slabs, and yes it is quite rough. I could not imagine a GT PP on those roads.

But out on the open road, in almost 6 months now, I have never thought "I wish I had a PP car".

To me, the bigger cooling capacity and bigger brakes are the bigger draw. I didn't want the 3.73 gears or stiffer ride. In the end, I decided 3:55 gears was most important to me. So I went M6 3.55 premium.
