The same state of Texas that made them camera safe by issuing the thieves bogus temporary plates with no valid ID? If the cops didn't think of it, maybe the DMV has a much better hi-res picture of his face in their surveillance "tapes". Maybe even of them getting out of or into their REAL car. Or if they can get the plates on-line, there would be IP addresses and CC numbers.
He was actually RIGHT by the camera and even looked at it (idiot), problem is the tag that the traced (temporary tag) went back to a dealer who claimed it had been on a car and was stolen. So they stole my property using stolen property plate. My guess is that's probably why they snagged my plates also, to have a different tag # for the next sucker who gets ripped off. I reported the plates as stolen though so if they do they will come back. PD also printed the wiper blade but it was a partial and smudged, didn't trace back to anyone.

Wow - sorry that was a genuine heist of your property and such a violation! Many of us were anxious to hear how that happened (and you’ve explained)...

So even with the vid footage and knowing they came in with a temp plate - they couldn’t track down the make/model of vehicle they were in? Did they review any other area security cams, maybe they could trace the route from which they came or left?

Curious too - you said you need a fob to enter the property - how’d they do that? Inside job - someone has a fob or they are working with the complex security people, no?

They had to case out your vehicle ... and have access (somehow), to be entirely 100% random is indeed weird, especially in what is supposed to be a secure parking garage. Was your vehicle visible from the road?

Wondering if you have the locking wheel lug nuts. Glad they didn't, but don't why they didn't take your wheels too.

That Structure should have to pay for all of that... That doesn't take 5m to do.
Agreed, but "... not responsible for loss or damage ..."

Maybe they just followed someone through the gate behind someone that had official access to the gated community.

In today's world even if someone see's it, they don't want to get involved, they just think NOT my car and none of my business and move on.Sad but true.
Most likely if someone saw this happening, they would assume it was the owner working on the car. How would the passers by know it was a theif? And who in their right mind would steal a bumper and mufflers?? I know if I walked by that, I might assume it was the owner just working on his car.

I was a Cop for twenty years. This has ALL the hallmarks of a scam. The car, outside of the "stolen" parts, was completely unscathed. When thieves take shit, they do it as quickly as humanly possible for obvious reasons and when they do, they don't give a phuck about the car they are taking the parts from, and the car always gets damaged in the process! They cut ALL the wires to every electrical part, and break adjacent shit as the parts are being removed, because the more time it takes, the more the likelihood they will get caught.

Every time I saw a "crime" scene where everything was neat and orderly, and nothing else or very little was damaged, I knew it was an insurance scam.
I had a beater Honda Civic while back where someone stole the front turn signal/parking lights. Fortunately, they didn't cut the wires so I was able to order a pair of cheap aftermarket ones and slap them on without issues. My sister had the hatchback lid stolen off of her CRX and it too was left undamaged other than the lid (yes I used to live in a not-so-nice neighborhood).

They followed another car that actually lives in my apartment in the garage, they saw that on camera also. We just had those cameras installed, as messed up as it sounds I suspect it might have been one of the installers that saw my car and decided to come back. They hit it the day before the cameras were supposed to be active, not knowing the owner of the camera company already activated them and had a feed to a cloud DVR.

I think this and seeing the camera scared them (luckily), I have locking lug nuts on it now. Those aren't necessarily 100% effective either though, at least it's a deterrent.

Someone decided that they wanted my mufflers and rear bumper off my 18 GT, along with my license plates and windshield wiper blades...
