Say no more, if this is true then an automatic is your best friend. :headbang:
Indeed.

My brother and I shared a Pinto with a manual in the late seventies. We would take it to Mt. Brighton (SE Michigan) skiing and instead of eating in the cafeteria there, we'd hop back in the Pinto and drive a few miles to the McDonalds in town. Driving a stick in ski boots is a lot of fun.

Honestly, everything that comes with the PP will be replaced for me anyway, with the exception of maybe the radiator and the front lip.
Really? So you would replace the 6-piston 15" Brembos, Torsen 3.73 rear end, gauges, unique dash, strut tower brace, k brace, etc.?

The wheels and maybe a couple of the suspension bits I could see possibly replacing/upgrading, especially if you have plans to lower the car more. But the other stuff?

It's difficult to coordinate the movement of both legs independently of each other at exactly the same time when you're not used to doing that. And if you just try using one leg, the car stalls before you can move your right foot from the clutch to the gas.

Or, in any event, that was my experience the one time I tried it as a teenager almost 20 years ago. I haven't even sat in a car with a manual transmission since then, so I really couldn't say.
if it makes you feel any better, certain cars behave differently in their manual transmissions, ive driven many manual transmissions in trucks and cars foreign and domestic but the one that took some time to get used to was my manual in the Audi TT. the clutch was very sensitive, barely had to step in the pedal before it was engaged and still does it today (14 years later) very much used to it.. when I test drove the 2014 mustang gt manual transmission I was actually shocked that it behaved much like my Audi. my dad has driven many manuals in his lifetime but he actually had difficulty getting used to the Audi and stalled the car numerous times ( My dad is from Germany ;-)

Oh, I forgot the gauges. But yes, everything else. It's gonna be a drag oriented car and the brakes wont clear 17" front runners, torsen is terrible for drag, and so is the strut tower brace.

Its all great stuff, just not for what I want out of the car. I rather build up how I wanted it.

Start the car. Depress the clutch. Put the gear shift lever in the slot for first gear. Let go of the clutch. Stall.

Repeat that 100 consecutive times until the car's battery was about to die and I had to stop.

I've always wanted to learn how to drive a manual transmission car, but there are no schools that teach you how to; rental fleets don't have rental cars with manuals that you can try to learn on; and I don't know anybody who owns a car with a manual. So I don't really have a way to learn.

sorry if this sounds direct, it is, but you walk and run right? you move your arms too when you walk, right? that is all simultaneous[emoji2]. if you plan on learning a manual, make sure the other person does not mind burning up a clutch.. or two. I learned to drive clutch pretty much on my own when I was sixteen I was already travelling and had the opportunity to drive stick with some friends in CA I guess I was a natural but I don't deny the fact I may have stalled a few times.

Here is an idea though, there are simulators out there with stick, hell, there are a few racing simulators at the arcades. but that's an idea you can try if it is available to you, might need some extra cash for tokens though,

also look for places like rent a wreck and see if they have a manual.. never really looked for those here in the states but in Guam, we called them Guambombs... anyways, see if those are around

Ah, okay. Makes more sense now. Yeah, the PP is definitely not aimed at drag racers.
