Yeah, "Miller Motorsports Park" doesn't exist anymore. It will continue on as Utah Motorsport Campus with new owners Mitime (subsidary of Geely, owners of Volvo). It's the winter off-season now anyway, they should have everything sorted out for operation in the spring.
Last I heard, Ford Racing School will continue to operate out of there. And they just took delivery of ~20 GT350s supposedly.
I took pictures of the 20 Shelbys last Sunday parked at Larry Miller Ford, Salt Lake. Today I talked with a salesman that helped deliver what he said was 15 to the motor sports park. There were 5 left behind that were available during the week for sale. He said all 5 had names on them at 15k over msrp. 2 left yesterday and 3 were there today waiting to be picked up. The sales guy was kind of a dick and I asked him if he felt good about gouging people for that kind of money! In true "dick" fashion he said it didn't bother him. Larry Milller dealerships are a big player here in the west and I can imagine Ford takes good care of them and it shows by how many Shelbys they were able to get over and above the track cars. There should be no question about the future of the motor sports park. The Shelbys are there now.
Last Saturday Larry H Miller SLC had 3. Sales idiots were not all on the same page about availability. Tried to pressure the dude into letting me drive one but he didn't bite!
Miller is committed to operating for 2016 and has hired original sale winner Mitime to do the management. New sales process to start in tandem. Looking very strong we'll get a GT350 Track Attack.
That is great news for the 16 season. A lot of our local small vendors depend on the season for revenue. Now if they can just find a buyer that will go in a positive direction after this year we will be in great shape. Was talking with a local racer that said the property management company that got the sale to Mitime stopped now wants to start court action against Tooele County for selecting Mitime to manage the upcoming racing season. This guy will stop at nothing to turn the property into an industrial park. He needs to just go away!
