This is my only complaint. After two and a half weeks of driving, I love everything about the car. I knew exactly what I was getting into in terms of fuel economy: it's a V8 and at the moment I do a lot of city driving. I was already expecting to be filling up fairly often, but 16 gallons means it's even more frequent than that. I wouldn't think that space was an issue, even my brother's tiny nismo 370z holds 19 gallons.

So far I've ranged between 150 and 180 miles on 3/4 of a tank of gas.

Does anyone else wish the tank was a little bigger than 16 gallons? And how many miles do you typically get before needing to fill up?

It would be nice if we had a 20 gallon tank. The mustang has had a 16 gallon tank since 1964 so I don't see it changing much. I'm getting between 265 and 280 miles per a tank with about a 60/40 split of city/ highway.

Feel thats a weakness of Ford

I really can't state it as a fact, but the family escape has a 15ish gallon tank and because I would take it to NYC and back daily, would fill it up 3+ times a week

Wonder why they do that, they should of offered a bigger fuel tank as an option like the F150's have (20 vs 16-15.5)

My other car is a Focus ST. It has just a 12.9 gallon tank!! If it had 16 I could easily go 400+ miles in that thing but as is, I usually reach 0 between 290 to 300 miles a tank in the ST.

So personally, I'm excited to have a 16 gallon tank in the mustang :) Still on my first tank in the EB mustang so I have no idea what range I'll get but right now I'm around 21 MPG avg. and climbing. I've been pretty light on it during break in period so that skews things a bit. But if I end up overall around the low 20s I'll be pretty happy.

The 16 gallon tank has been in place since 1979. Imagine back in 1982 when you had a 16 gallon tank and only got 15 MPG. Now that sucked.

Have you guys experienced the supposed MPG improvement after the break-in period passes?

.
My '13 SHO had a 19.5 gallon tank. I could almost hit 500 miles on 100% highway driving @ 65-70mph.

Haha, so you're saying I should raise my expectations a bit for mine!

I was low balling a bit maybe but I think my mind I was comparing against my ST which is considerably lighter and smaller displacement so thinking in the low to mid 20s seemed reasonable to me. Now I'm even more excited it I'm getting closer to the ST then!

no. if anything the car did better because i was babying it.

I have a solid 50 / 50 mix of city highy and I get 19.5 mpg for a tank. 275 miles to a tank. I fill up every 4-5 days. The SHO was every 6-7 days.

You must drive mostly highway. Most gt owners I've seen here have gotten significantly less. Low teens for some.
I do drive the interstate for the most part. Low teens you would really have to pretty much race stop light to stop light. Worst I've seen out of a tank is 17.5 mpg and best is 24 mpg.

Just wanted to say I like your username. I say shibby all the time, girlfriend doesn't like it much.

I'm usually getting around 200-225miles on about 13 gallon fillups in my 2011 5.0, 100% city driving.
