small damage, need opinion

Coming down off the expressway this morning a car in front of me ran over a piece of truck tire rubber and flung it at the front of my car, I think it glanced off the left front part of the bumper.

I got home and looked, a few scuff marks that wiped right off but I noticed that where the left edge of the front fascia seams up against the left front fender that it had popped out of place from the the impact.

It appears that the far left side of the front fascia piece is secured with a plastic tab that tucks down into a slot and a plastic ring tab that slips over a post, the little plastic ring tab is what is broke.

I can press the front fascia with it's one tab down into the slot and it looks pretty good but I don't think it will stay there, the first time I go over a pothole or something it will probably pop out again.

In order to get it fixed would the whole front fascia piece need to be replaced or could there somehow be a smaller fix. Before calling the insurance people or dropping it off at a dealer, the dealer said just bring it in and they would look at it and give me there opinion.

I can press the front fascia with it's one tab down into the slot and it looks pretty good but I don't think it will stay there, the first time I go over a pothole or something it will probably pop out again

Is that the tab that's on the front side of the wheel well? If so, I ended up breaking that tab when I took the front fascia off for the first time during the IC install (didn't know that there was a second hidden 7mm head screw). It's been over a year and I haven't had issues with that tab being broken. If anything, it makes taking the fascia off much easier.

I see a white seam going down the tab closest to the fender which means that crack and pulled it out. Being it's not broke you can fix it just like I did when mine broke. I had to do was take some ABS glue and cover it up and let it try. It was nice and firm once it was ready to go back on. That is more crucial from keeping it pop out then the fender screw.

That "ring tab" actually goes around a screw that is kind of hidden behind the wheel well liner. Remove that screw, push the bumper cover back into place, and reinstall the screw and you may be OK.

I can’t find the thread or the part name, but some guys were buying these “button-like” inserts that would go in from the side exterior of the front cover and secure it.

Damn if I can’t find that thread, because they had posted quite a few pics from those folks who bought/used them.

You could always try to add a little larger diameter washer so it will hold.
