You can, will they break???? Mayyyybe. Slicks will be more forgiving than a drag radial. Some guys have lots of passes with no issues with slicks but the half shafts do seem to be the weakest link. With that said I am planning on finding out!:headbang: I was planning on going tonight but weather did not corporate. Maybe next Friday I'll get a chance to test out my drag set up.:headbonk:

can i run slicks with MT front runners? bama seemed to do fine mixing the radial front skinnies with slicks in the back.

I had dss800 half shafts and sold them because I thought my car was broken. Turns out my car is fine and I just ran about 10 passes last Saturday night on slicks and stock half shafts. I'm not gonna buy half shafts again until I break my stock ones! It was definitely nerve racking every pass though! Lol

You'll have no issues running them at the track , just a little extra fun at the top end .
How bad is it on the top end ? I can't get my new 305/45/17s to hook at all ( even at 11 PSI ) I have M/T radials on the front and want to try Hoosier 28x10x 17s slicks on the back .. I don't want to be tagging the wall with my new stang ...:eyebulge:

I'm only doing 122 at the top , it's very slight to me . You have much more mph , you may want to match some bias ply fronts also .

I run radial skinnies up front and bias plys out back and it's fine.. my car is slow tho lol. I also have 100% stock rear suspension and pulled high 1.5s low 1.6s 60fts still going strong so far. My car felt way better at the track with slicks than drag radials.

What happens when the stock half shafts break? Does one tire keep spinning and the other isn't powered? Does the shaft fall down and hit the ground? Excuse the ignorance, basically this: let's say your half shafts break, is it a serious safety issue where you lose control of the car?

It will feel like you're in neutral. If you let off break only no gas it will barely roll forward. If you hit gas you will go nowhere.

I broke one first time to the track on drag radials. It could be a safety concern but most likely the car will just stop pulling. I broke mine when I hit third gear and the car just revved up and stopped pulling. If I had to do it over again I would have bought slicks. The drag radials are hit or miss with the stick.
