I get the same thing and im running a radial 305.Been drag racing for a long time.My issue is on the streetwhen taking a ramp or changing a lane qquickly. The best way i can explain it is it feels like the rear tires brake loose for a split second even though they are not,if that makes sence. And with the bounce of the pp springs it can get real hairy. My issue maybe something elese, but i never noticed it until i put the nitto,s on.

I wanted to update the thread with my experience using the skinnies with bias ply. I went to a local 1/8 mile track tonight, and ran a 7.89 @ 88.43. 60 foot was 1.65. Car was MUCH more stable and was hooking well with 17 psi. I wasn't going to press my luck and go with a lower psi after my last experience. Maybe next time :). At any rate, I'll never run slicks with radials up front again....too scary!

Basic bolt-on mods for now (headers, CAI, tune, upgraded axels and a few suspension mods). Getting ready to install a Vortech, but I first wanted to make sure I could get down the track without hitting the wall :). It's all good now!

I just put on the same size slick as the OP, and the skinnies have a radial on them as well.. I don't DD the car of course and the drag setup just stays on the car. Why is it that radial front runners make the car go crazy like that? Because they don't have the give that a bias ply front runner would have? I also don't race the car at a dragstrip and I don't plan on going 80+ mph on the street.. been 70 on the hwy with them and everything feels fine though with the slicks at 30 psi.

That's just what they were when they showed up, I didn't put 30 in them. Planned on dropping them to 20-25 for the steet tomorrow.

You bought slicks strictly for street duty????????? Try a drag radial next time. Slicks are a track only tire.

There is nothing wrong with bigs and littles with slicks for street duty if youre careful. Thats what i do. HOWEVER, its not my daily or would i take a vehicle out with them with a chance for rain in the forecast. Ive also used a tire with a nickname you're probably familiar with, "cheater slicks" more often then not.

Slicks and careful aren't usually used in the same sentence. True slicks have off road use only stamped on them for a reason. Im not red assing on the street in my1000 hp car. It's not smart. It gets trailered to the track where it and slicks belong!

I look at it like this. You can use a 24 inch pipe wrench to drive a nail into a 2X4. But why would you? Drag radials are DOT approved for the street. Slicks aren't. And drag radials are dicy on anything other than clean dry blacktop. If slicks were safe to use on the street. They'd also be DOT approved. Why take a chance on a tire that most likely wont offer any more traction? It's not like your going to get out at a red light and air down to 10-12psi.

I street race a lot. I dont just race at the track. I have no issues with no prep. I really enjoy it. And im not opposed to driving around on 13-14psi. Fuck getting out. Im the type that doesnt care about street legal. I dd a 1300whp supra for a few years quite awhile ago. If im already going to drive a non street legal car why should i draw the line with tires. i enjoy single digit cars on the street.. what can i say

Im a kid at heart i guess. Im damn near 50 :cheers:

I dont find that much crap comes along with it. Dont misunderstand i still really like the track, but i find myself liking the street more. Ive always done the street thing too. However i do much more street then track the past 5 years or so. I suppose its because i was large into nmra and nhra competing for so long. Its a nice change of pace not having rules, regulations and classes. I like just doing what i want.
