I don't think they care what they put him in, as long as it's new and it's from them. And these days with small SUVs and crossovers that are the easy sells it's no surprise that that's what they're going to pitch first and foremost, to everybody. As far as they're concerned, Mark is just another customer . . . another 'mark' to an opportunistic sales team.While this is undoubtedly true, if I read Mark's post correctly he's not wondering at having received the letter (which, as you say, is usual practice), but rather at Ford's strange suggestion of replacing his hot Focus ST with a stupid, dreary, low-cost crossover.
