Rules do say your place can be given to someone else as long as they're driving your Mustang .... Doubt anyone is gonna do that

Although I would hope the clause about it being "your" Mustang is to stop any old car turning up. Hopefully they'll be ok with another S550, albeit not a CL one.

As said, two weeks is not a lot of notice for some.

Luckily I'm off that week as the kids are still on Easter Hols. I've had to asking they can come too though as it says you're only allowed 1 family member or friend

They put me on to tempcover.com & they quoted me £65.87 & £500 excess.

They did ask that I wouldn't be doing Time Trial, Pace Setting or Racing, to which I replied NO.

Is a 40-Minute Track Drive with a Professional Instructor present at all times, then covered okay

I suspect the wording there means you're not covered. They will see being on track as racing or speed testing, difficult to describe it as anything else.

I specifically told them that it was for a Track Day Experience with 40mins track time under professional supervision.
Had the feeling that he wasnt that sure. Gonna check a few more on Tuesday.

It says "No high heeled shoes" chaps...... wouldn't want you to get all the way there etc. ;)

For the sake of 40mins on track is track insurance required. We are on track with other mustang owners and all of us will have an instructor in the car telling us what to do and looking out for us. It's not like a standard track day where you are on track a lot more and out there by yourself with lots of different cars/drivers flying around. Silverstone is also a very open track and you would have to be very unfortunate to do any damage.

Just know that any damage that was to occur will be out of your pocket. Personally I think I would risk it. Can't imagine your going to be going flat out on these types of days.

I was having this discussion with my girlfriends dad last night.

Do you need insurance?theoretically no, however should you crash into someone else's car, spin out and crash yours, injure someone else etc. You'd be fully liable to pay the cost. So yes. Insurance probably is needed.
