Always been into home audio / car audio - still not sure if I'll upgrade the audio in the Mustang but last week I was gifted a new / used amp by a friend who is moving. A year or 2 ago I set him up like my house, he's moving, doesn't need the amp, so I replaced my generic RCA surround amp with his (his is much better)

(Yes, I know it's a mess - haven't had the time to do a proper patch panel / mini wall mounted rack)

Anyway - We're an Apple house and Apple's Airport Expresses (the white squares stacked held in with pipe strapping, lol) do Airplay (think sonos) and have a headphone jack out. The PITA is you can only use 1 Airport per speaker but they don't conflict with each other - their just extending the base Time Capsule base station. A waste for sure - $180 each ? Access point just to use it for audio but it's the only easy, reliable way I've found while staying in Apple's ecosystem.

So 1 Airport per zone - Kitchen, Dining Room, 2nd Floor hallway and Patio.

Works well - select your zone from any Apple device (iPhone, iPad, laptop - even Apple TV can stream to one of them). Volume is controlled via the device streaming it.

If there is a party, the laptop / iTunes can stream to all of them at once.

Past that, using Lutron Casetta light switches - still need a few more but theres one in the kitchen, dining room, family room ceiling, family room lamp. I'd like to put the outside lights on these switches. Thermostat is a Ecobee 3 and I haven't found a drape or blind controller I like yet. All the lights and thermostat controls via Apple Homekit / Home app.

Security cameras are Zmodo - 4 on the exterior watching doors / driveway (cars) but their their own system / app.

Anyone else into home audio / home automation / have a nice setup ?

It has become an expensive hobby, hence all of my equipment is approaching the 20 year old mark.

Here it goes. This is the 2 channel setup.
A Theta transport sends the digital signal from the cd-rom to a Genesis digital lens, then back to a Theta DAC.From there it goes analog to a Aragon preamp then a Aragon dual mono block amp.
The speakers are 1970's flavor Klipschorns that are modded with Greg Roberts hand made mid-horns driven by BMS drivers. The crossovers are a extreme slope design hand built from ALK eng with high quality caps and coils. When it comes time to rock, this parts your hair!

This chains in to a Adcom 7.1 preamp and a 5 channel amp to drive the center, rears and side channels. The sub is a Paradigm Servo-15.
All lighting is handled from a Lutron Maestro dimmers which also work with the Harmony 880 remote.
The acoustic panels you see on the wall are 2 inch thick which stop echoes.

Home:

Sony 45es projector onto a 106” dalite screen
Onkyo 818 receiver running all klipsch: reference dual 6” center, dual 8” mains, single 6” surrounds, single 5” rears. Two subs: klipsch 15”/400 watt in front and klipsch 12”/300 watt in the rear. Directv satellite, Xbox one s, denom turntable, oppo dvd/sacd, Apple TV, secondary Samsung dvd, teac dual cassette with dbx 224x noise reduction system (don’t laugh lol), and an old pioneer m301 laser disc player. Powered by a Panamax 4300. This is the basement setup. Upstairs is a simple onkyo 717 with energy satellite/sub system in great room.

System in my mustang: stock head reprogrammed to low level output feeding a bunch of old school equipment from the 90’s: lanzar noise gate, lanzar dual channel 30 band eq, soundstream reference 500 feeding Boston Pro 6.5 satellites up front and 5.25 JL audio satellites in the rear, soundstream reference 700 feeding two Rockford p12s2 in a sealed box. I’m thinking of building another old school system in one of our other cars, I’ve got a couple of old zapco competition amps (100 and 150) and some other stuff sitting around.
