If you road trip AE is great. It's nice to not have a loud exhaust for 6+ hours straight. I think I'd be forced to go on trips in a Toyota if I didn't have it.
This is true. Combine Magnaride with Active Exhaust and you can set it to Normal Suspension, Comfort Steering, and Quiet Exhaust and it's a get road trip car.

...Where I live law enforcement can pull you over/ticket you for loud exhaust without any form of measurement - basically the officers discretion which you then need to waste time fighting in court...
I live east of TO and have been on the receiving end of an inspection by the MTO and local PD. They were running a project to get overly modded / unsafe cars (mostly riced out Jap stuff) fixed or off the road.
I was directed to the inspection area and was polite. MTO officer asked me to rev to 5000. I politely said "no thanks". I said I was refusing to do anything that could get me in trouble. Cop came over (a gym acquaintance). Asked what's up? I said the MTO officer asking me to rev, and likely "breaking the sound rules" was tantamount to a cop asking me to speed up to 80 km in a 50. Cop said he saw my point. They listened to my idle, had me drive around the loop in the inspection area, and waved me on.
I have Corsa Sport cat-backs.

Ah a fellow GTA'er! So you know the struggle. You are right, they can't entrap you to break the law. Also, I have an A10 so it won't even rev past 4500rpm.

This is a huge issue in Vancouver as there your car is flagged and you can't drive until you get a certificate from a shop saying it's stock. Then, you hit the road right after and you can get nailed again and have to repeat the process. They are using it to basically harass away the car scene. I'd be ok if they had a measurement e.g. level of db at distance but they don't. It's officer discretion.

You are right, they can't entrap you to break the law.
On the other hand, the car should be legal at 5000 rpm, too. If merely reaching two thirds of the available rev range (i.e. something that can and will happen many times while driving) would cause ther car to break the law, then it is not legal to begin with. You were practically admitting that your car isn't road legal.
I'm surprised he let you off the hook on that feeble basis.

Wasn't Alberta going to shut down the pipelines to East and BC because no one wants fossil fuels haha.
They should stop wearing clothes made out of fossil oils.
