My extended warranty for my 2018 GT is expiring soon, and was looking for how much it would cost of out pocket to repair the shift fork issue once warranty ends? Couldn't really find the out of pocket costs of the repair as all posts seem to have the problem repaired under warranty.

Just trying to plan ahead in case it happens and really see if I should consider extending the warranty further or if it's not worth. I haven't had it happen on my 2018 throughout the 5-6 years I've had it.

Thanks

When it’s time to replace them, you might as well upgrade them to billet aluminum forks. These are what I installed in mine. Labor prices may vary depending on who does the rebuild for you. Here are a couple of place that do rebuilds.

https://lashbrookbuilt.com/product-category/transmission-rebuilds/mt82-rebuilds/

https://www.txdrivetrain.com/manual-transmission-rebuild-repair-service/

It would also be a great idea to upgrade synchros, slave cylinder and clutch while you’re at it.

Just something to add for pricing.
Local shop that does only Mt work is roughly $1100 for new carbon synchro's all brass pads, bearings etc. assuming no gears or bent shafts. Full rebuild out the door. $600 of that is labor.

Average with something damaged is $1500 to $1600 out the door. Worst rebuild to date was $2600. Told me they have gone through many calimer trans and the uprated gear seats fail just the same unfortunately.

I'm undecided if I'll bite the bullet for t56 when the time comes. Especially with 3 to 5 day turn around and prices like that.

I personally can't justify shipping an mt82. Local work or next option. Something that can be a one and done id be fine shipping out/in.

That’s interesting to hear that there are reports of the Calimer billet gears failing! Did the shop by chance share any additional info. with you on some of the other problems they’ve discovered when tearing into Calimer transmissions and what they have done to remedy them?

So your local shop didn't do the shift forks, which the OP was talking about, so add mabe another 400 to your price. Most here don't have a local MT82 rebuild shop, so we have to ship them.

It's the shop @NGOT8R referenced. Add on parts if damage or just wanting them increases the $1100 price. Calimers stg 1 is $2850 + $275 shipping

Yep gotta decide what makes sense. If I'm spending $500-600 round trip to ship, I'm looking for a final solution! At least within reason.

Know of several local dealers that have techs capable of mt work. Ford normally paid for the forks only when they were breaking frequently. Another option. Especially if you're pulling from the car yourself.

Stop into any ford dealer parts department and ask.

If I’m replacing the trans, it’s going to be a tremec. Only thing I wish my PP2 had.
