ShelbyR on the way...need help !!!

I was originally looking for a lightning blue with white stripes over the top, and then i found a youtube video of a stripless lightning blue with a black roof. I was sold at that point and now i have the same combo. I really like it, and it think it looks very fitting on these cars.

That is a good combo. Would have been what I would have ordered on a standard 350. Ended up black roof and black stripes on the R.

Like Harry said, way way to late to change anything now. Once the sticker is issued and a blend date is set, that's it.

Hi Thompster ... received confirmation that the change was accepted last Thursday March 8th, from my dealer, with a planned build week of March 19th

Originally they had ordered for dealer stock two GT350R, one Black with Black stripes, which is the first one arriving and the one I changed to Magnetic and one Orange Fury with no stripes.

Don’t get me wrong, either way I will be extremely happy, it’s just not being able to see the two combinations in person is killing me :frusty:

One minute I would like it to look more subdued and classy and the next more aggressive, and true to Shelby tradition.

The more I think about it, cars with no stripes look awesome with Black roof, and cars with OTT seem to be missing something, not in a bad way ( I love both that’s my dilemma) just different ... :ford:

If you have a dealer confirmation that the changes were accepted, then you are set. It is pretty much known that once the sticker is issued, that's it. So best of luck and enjoy your new R!

Black roof is easy to add after the fact... peel stripes off and wrap the roof in black.. done.

I've heard that the black paint the factory uses on the roof is crappy also.. so wrapping it may not be a bad thing if that's what you end up doing.

The wrap will cost you about $300 to have installed. It is a wrap and it scratches easily. I had it done to the TY R and went ahead and bought the replacement OTT stripes while they were still available at that price point. The price has gone up and fordparts.com says that item is not able to be shipped (WTF?).

I guess my point is that make sure you can get the stripe kit and verify price before you go with a wrap and peel the OEM off.

Great to hear that your change was accepted especially on such short notice but with you initiating the change last week along with R model production being behind by about a week it all worked out in the end.

What part of the Great White North do you now live in?

Well the black roof option is $700... so that pays for the wrap and you wouldn't be putting the stripes back on if you had ordered it without (IE, with a black roof in the first place)... so most aren't going to buy the stripes to put back on?

But I get why you bought the replacement stripes, I would have done that in the past for my cars.

The fact of the matter is that (as you know) is that I fully intended to sell the TY R to help fund the 500. To be able to convert it back to 100% original, I went with the wrap and bought replacement stripes. Now, with the 1 year delay for the 500 and my soon to be promotion, I will certainly be able to afford to keep the two R's and the 500. I guess the wife's '97 cobra convertible will have to go live at the other house.

Needless to say, some color combinations look great with a black roof. Another color combo is oxford white, black roof, and black stripes with red pin striping. Man, that combo looks great. Of course, AG in the same combo is the best, and TY is a must have for a black roof. Look at my avatar and notice how the black roof blends right into the rear window.... Looks slick.

Anyway, to each their own I guess.

That is an awesome combination!!!... Do you ever have any regrets about not going with stripes on the roof ?

Yes, and the white OR avalanche grey in that combo is the best.
