The hood is actually designed by Ford dry carbon made it to expensive and to hard to do all crash testing with it so they went with the current hood. Ford gave SAI the design and SAI is putting it on the SE.The hood is very nice. Like there spin on it.
The hood is the most expensive piece. Dry Carbon, Gary P told me last night at Team Shelby event that the hood drops 30lbs moving the CG down a good bit. If you want to afford it, it will be an amazing look and difference for those that could not get a Snack pack it is a good way to go. The GT350SE is an even better deal, 1 girl signed up last night for the 350 they she got number 7 so low numbers are still out there. For GT500 if you got a low chassis number and get a low CSM it will make it a very rare ride.I just want that hood!
You can buy an AC CF hood for $1600. Yea, the SA hood has a little more venting, but is it really needed? The hood is the most expensive piece. Funny I said same thing to Gary and Scott Black from SAI and they both said that upgrading the cooling and venting the hood more has proven to make a difference in testing. Upgrading all the coolers is one of the other things they are doing with the package, I agree I was like I can’t even get mine to warm up so to speak let alone get hot but maybe it’s because my will power gives out before the car even breaks a sweet. You can buy an AC CF hood for $1600. I am not hearing of people having cooling problems with the car. @The Chairman just ran COTA at full blast in 100 degree heat. I believe he said the car ran cool.Funny I said same thing to Gary and Scott Black from SAI and they both said that upgrading the cooling and venting the hood more has proven to make a difference in testing. Boil it all down and its just a few minor upgrades and a spot in the Shelby registry. Not worth it to me, but it may be to others. This looks great. The CF hood saving 30 lbs is a nice touch, however, are those wheels heavier than the CFTP wheels? Probably. I assume the model in the pic is starting w/ the CFTP as it has the CF rear wing, so you're paying more money to lose the CF wheels as part of the package, which doesn't make sense...I'd rather keep the factory CF wheels and tires and save some $$ on the package on wheels/tires. Maybe you get to keep the factory wheels/tires for the track? I also think they should have gone higherr than 800+, and went straight for 850 hp. Shouldn't be that difficult and would have made a bigger splash.
