Maybe a 2018 soon
I'm really close to placing my order for my 19GT. I can't decide if i should spring for the shaker upgrade or not. Is it worth it or would I be better off with something aftermarket? I'm not an audiophile by any means and don't want teeth rattling noise but i do like good sound quality and base!

I believe for 2019, Ford got rid of Shaker and is going with Bang and Olufsen. I do not know how much better the B&O is compared to the Shaker system. I have the Shaker Pro in my 2018 and it sound fine. Its not some high quality, high grade system and for 900 bucks could be a lot better. If you are willing to go with aftermarket stereo, you can get a lot better sound for $900 than the factory premium system. However, if you would like to stick with the factory stereo, the Shaker does a good job. Mine did not sound good initially, but after listening to it for a couple of weeks, the sound became better, the bass less muddy and the highs crisp. Maybe you can listen to one in person and decide for yourself if the factory option is for your taste or an aftermarket option will fit your taste better. Good luck.

Just my 2 cents... Although the sound systems are getting better, there still will be no comparison to building a custom one. You can keep the stock head unit (as I did in my '18 with the 9 speaker system) and replace everything else.

I really hate Sync 3. If I didn't have the Premium factory navigation I'd probably go for one of those Tesla style Android head units.

I have Sync 3 w/o navigation. I use Android Auto. Navigation works like a champ and I don't have to worry about updates. :)

Those Tesla style head units are slick though.

Read this same thing somewhere else. I recently heard a B&O system in a new RS4 and it was pretty darn impressive in the SQ and imaging categories. Like the Shaker Pro it was no bass monster, but not bad.

I would recommend talking to a dealer regarding the B&O system and if it is being offered, I'd go that way.
