In my S197 took the car round to show off to my aunt and uncle, done a right turn to close and caught my Uncle's car. Lucky no damage to his but £300 to mine.I try to park as far from any one else in large parking lots, if I can. I came out and found a series of small scratches on the left rear corner of the rear bumper. They were not there when I pulled in (I had looked at the rear bumper when I opened the trunk). They were small enough to buff out. I have five layers of sealant and waxes. I still can't figure out what/who did the scratching.
I had to laugh when I read this as I do the same thing, except I pull in. I've got two two Goldwings F6B's and a BMW RT in the garage in front of the GT so I use blocks as tire stops. They sometimes "mysteriously" move position too. Kids are all gone, so it must be the dogs or cats moving them, the wife would never do itI have a 24"x12" concrete slab setting behind my left rear tire. When I back into the garage the tire touches the pad and I have 3" clearance to close the garage door. Me and my daughter went for a ride last Sunday and upon returning and backing into the garage spot for some reason I asked her to look and see if the door would clear the car. She said no way, and I got out and looked and for damned sure that garage door would have come down right on top of the front end. So now I'm bitchin' because there was three other people at home plus my dog and nobody knows how the slab got moved. There's a few things that I'm sure of here. Me and the daughter didn't do it. The dog didn't do it. The house didn't shrink and the car didn't grow. What did I learn here? I ain't gonna use a remote garage door opener unless I pull in, close the door and back up to it using the rear camera. Best, CB
Ghostracer you have good taste,we have the same car(RR Perform pac car) and have been of been thinking of getting a Honda F6b motorcycle, but only 1.I had to laugh when I read this as I do the same thing, except I pull in. Put a piece of tape on the wall so when you pull in, just line up the tape with a window edge or something.I had to laugh when I read this as I do the same thing, except I pull in. I did the exact same thing, and the irony is I was buying wheel cleaner:frusty:In your attempts to keep your car safe and sound, have you caused any damage? I've had mine for a year and dd it. When I park, I find a spot away from others, look for islands, etc. The other day I was doing my normal routine of pulling as close to the island as I could so whomever parked next to me wouldn't leave a ding. Well, instead I left a tiny scrape on my front wheel as I rubbed the curb  Minor damage, for sure. And I am very fortunate that as of today this is the worst that has occurred. In fact it was so minor, it isn't even worth posting a picture. But it still annoys me every time I look at it.
Well, thank you. The red one is mine, blue one is the wife's. The RT was the wife's, but my nephew owns it now. Storing for him until he gets the nerve to tell my sister-in-law that he bought a bikeGhostracer you have good taste,we have the same car(RR Perform pac car) and have been of been thinking of getting a Honda F6b motorcycle, but only 1.
I use a tennis ball suspended from a string. When the windshield touches I'm all the way in. I line the hood spear up with it to keep enough clearance side to side. I have a tight garage and both cars are close so I like it parked just so.Sorry guys if I'm repeating somebody, but I didn't go through every post. There seem to be several garage "incidents".
I learned this one from my godfather years ago. I have a fishing bobber suspended from the ceiling. It is positioned such that if I drive straight in, and position the bobber at a vertical line from the top of the steering wheel, with me centered in the seat, the car will be correctly positioned when the bobber touches the windshield. Takes a little work to correctly locate the bobber, but works like a champ!
