I have some general questions and maybe a unique situation.
First, if using an HPT RTD, it is my understanding that the device needs credits to register to your vehicle.
If I was to switch tuners, do I need to purchase additional credits? My first thought is no, but I want to confirm.
So, if I have a "Tuner A" branded RTD with tunes, I am able to just get tunes from "Tuner B" without buying 4 more credits, correct?
Also, I was originally tuned using an SCT device. When following the 1 page instructions from my tuner, no where did it say to download and save the stock tune file. So I didn't.
My SCT device then bricked itself. So I have no stock tune file.
Most places I am reading are saying they want a stock tune file loaded before loading the tune from the RTD.
How is this going to work? Even if I did have a stock tune file saved, I would have no way of loading it back to the car, because the SCT device is broken.
Do I need to send it in for repair ($200) and hope they can recover my stock tune file? I am waiting for a call back from their tech support site, where I will pose these questions to SCT.
I hope my tuner is able to just give me a RTD tune without me having to revert to stock. I mean, they tuned the car originally anyway. I will let you guys know when I know, but with no phone number to call and email responses taking 3+ business days, who knows.
