I know the funnel is there, but you do not need to use it.

Go out to your car and with your finger try push open the flaps that the gas pump/funnel goes into. I can open them no problem with my finger, as can I use any old funnel.

On my wife's edge it is a different story, you need to use the ford supplied funnel or else those flaps are not opening.

If you don't use the funnel, you increase the chance of getting liquid fuel in the vent which can screw up your vapor recovery system. It's more than just opening the flap. Your choice though.

Fair enough. Part of what I was trying to get at was that any funnel would work on this car, unlike other fords (or at least the Edge) where if it isn't the exact diameter you can't get it in.

Well, it's supposed to be this way too, according to what my salesman told me, so maybe you'd wanna have yours checked ?!

If you haven't checked your pump situation you might want to....some cars have been delivered with the sealant can discharged..it's a bit of a mess...

I bought a cheap scissor jack, extending lug wrench and a plug kit to carry around with me in case of a screw in the tire. It came in handy the other day when my girlfriend's mother's suv had a flat :D
On long trips I carry the front stock wheel with an all season 255/40 on it in the trunk.

Maybe. Though, personally I wouldn't trust a salesman to know that the mustangs does not (if it truly does not), when the others do.

Hopefully someone here will give it a try on theirs and post the results.
