That red eye w/the $7,970 rebate is tempting. Problem is, here in CA, they mark the car up & then add the rebate so the dealership is nowhere near where the negotiations should be before rebates. These dealers get reimbursed for those rebates for F sake. Discount the car or F off!!!
I ran into a bit of that attempting to purchase my PP2 in the DFW area. To them, it was a "special order" Mustang & immediately tacked on an additional $5,000 to the selling price. I eventually just purchased the car out of state for an even better selling price & didn't get held up for the additional $5,000. :)

The uConnect system is far superior to anything Ford or GM]
Agreed. Loved the uConnect in my 2015 Ram. I use Sync everyday in my Ford Escape company car. It sucks.

Makes me ask: How did Chevy ever come up with Camaro?
The name never drew me in. Like what is a camaro?
Remember, you asked. :frown:

According to the book The Complete Book of Camaro: Every Model Since 1967, the name Camaro was conceived by Chevrolet merchandising manager Bob Lund and General Motors vice president Ed Rollett, while they were reading the book Heath's French and English Dictionary by James BoĂŻelle and by de V. Payen-Payne printed in 1936. In the book The Complete Book of Camaro, it states that Mr. Lund and Mr. Rollett found the word camaro in the French-English dictionary was slang, to mean friend, pal, or comrade. The article further repeated Estes's statement of what the word camaro was meant to imply, that the car's name "suggests the comradeship of good friends, as a personal car should be to its owner".[11] In fact, the actual French word that has that meaning is "camarade," from which the English word "comrade" is derived,[12] and not "camaro"; "camaro" is not a recognized word in the French language.

In TX one of three vehicles are used for LE. Explorer, likely the most, Tahoe, number 2, and Charger number 3. That's based solely on my daily interactions with state and local LEO and seeing them on the road. Texas DPS and the Houston Police Department have a ton of the Explores and Tahoes. Not very many Chargers between those two agencies and those are the two largest LEO agencies in TX. Texas DPS does have some Charges but not in the numbers like the others.

I did not look very hard but I did do some internet looking for a Hellcat in Houston Saturday. If I had found one, I likely would have driven it home. I did find a Scat Pack and it was tempting but if I am not going to get the top dog Mustang, it would have to be the Hell Cat.

With those gonzo rebates, the Dodge Challenger could be a helluva deal ... as long as you insist on only using the right side pedal & not turning the steering wheel off dead center.
However, if, for any reason, you opt to utilize the center pedal &/or move the steering wheel from side to side, then the Mustang is a way mo' bettah automobile
.
Perfect. I am all bout the 1/4 mile. That's why I am holding out for a GT500 base car in 2022. Unless I land a Hell Cat in the coming weeks. I mean $7K plus off a car I could have today vs hoping ADMs are gone in 2022 and I can buy a GT500. Like I said above, actually finding a Hell Cat at the $7K discount may prove impossible. Again, I have not done the full blown let's find one at all costs yet.

Ford is pushing Escapes, F150’s, and all their other SUV’s and trucks. The Mustang is the leader in its category so Ford marketing management doesn’t feel it’s necessary to spend ad dollars on it. Different situation for Dodge. I wonder if there will be a GT500 commercial when it starts shipping.

Ford seems to me.. To be marketing the new family, the Mils that have income but need room for curtain crawlers. The commercials all seem to push that freedom and I got the world in my control with my shiny ride.
Most likely hoping if they get them in a Ford now, moving them to electric and self driving will be a slam dunk in the future.
Mustang to Ford is like your child that won't move out and you have to deal with them.

Thanks Bikeman315. Did not know any of that. I wonder how many Camaro guys know that. Interesting you are from South Carolina. A guy told me once that a Camaro wrapped around a telephone pole was the state bird in North Carolina.
