The comment was just to show that cars are not the be all and end all of our lives. You compromise if you have other things going on...

On this forum whether you like it or not, you are evaluated by the model of car you drive. Like your self-worth is just what model car you drive. Inject some other part of your life into the mix and you deconstruct a shallow commercialized part of this website. I say “part” because there are genuine enthusiastic members doing interesting things.

On a writing forum you are evaluated by whether you were published by a legitimate publisher. On a filmmaking forum you are evaluated by the festivals you got into like Sundance where we get the word in early December. On and on but inject the fact that the people at the website are more than one dimensional beings - you make it harder to stereotype people based on a single metric. And that was what I was getting at.

As for Norm I should tell you it is now confirmed that the Tesla Roadster will come with cold air thrusters as an option. You could modify it so pulling back on the stick rockets you forward and pulling forward stops you. Pulling to the left fires rockets on the right to help you take the corner better and the same pulling to the right. Keep an open mind Norm. I expect to pass by your local track and see you teaching the kids of “the art” of rocket technology in dropping track times!

Could happen Norm... Could happen!
Not sure where you are going with your rant. In no way was I evaluating you other than if this forum was for you. Only because you seem to be fixated on EV's on a forum devoted to non-EV's. Was just trying to point that out to you in case you did not realize it.

Almost had me going there but I deleted it. Trust me I am working tirelessly for everyone here despite the car stuff. Let’s keep it at that. 140 grand was my own cash BTW. I good man...
What is your cut of the profits? What is the film about/titled?

It’s a documentary to show what is important in our lives and how to live our lives. I was also part of the crew that kept the internet open for the next ten years back in 2015 (at the highest levels BTW). The film is a complete loss for me but has a chance to really go places internationally - the advocacy that is - and that’s as far as I go

If you met me you would like me. That’s what they all say anyway. The “I good man” is what this one woman calls me in her broken English - I should add she actually says : You good man!.

More than V6 Guy...

So I have now owned two S550 mustangs, a 2015 gtpp base and now a 2018 gt 10r80. After driving these cars every day for the past 3 years now I must say they are great cars with a lot of power and performance and great handling compared to other gen mustangs but I find myself having more fun/better time driving in other mustangs I have owned. I have had a 1990 lx hatch 5.0, a 1996 mystic cobra and a 2004 mach 1 in comp orange. Althoug all three of those stangs are no where close performance wise to the S550 platform, in my opinion they were just more of a blast to drive. They had more of a muscle car/ raw feeling that the S550 lacks and they actually felt like a proper mustang. Dont get me wrong, I love my S550 but the other gen mustangs I have owned are just more fun and exciting to drive and they actually feel like proper muscle cars. Anyone else feel this way or am I crazy? Lol. Maybe I just need a whipple.
The problem is not being able to use the full potential of the car becomes frustrating and monotonous. Throwing more HP at a 5.0 isn't going to make it more fun to drive IMO.

I find the Turbo very fullfilling because it is more chassis than HP making it a fun car to drive.

There is so much more to the driving experience than 0-60.

It's not 'more' if you don't want it.

Valid point....

….and at some time in the future, maybe 50 years, maybe more, people will be lamenting of the good old days when you could drive a car yourself, instead of a computer doing it...….The future is coming and I agree that while todays cars are nice in there comforts and abilities, there is a lot to be said when cars were simpler....relatively inexpensive to maintain, the average person could do many things themselves without specialized tools....

Life was simpler back then...…..Oh, that's another topic....
What this topic is probably really about is how technology is changing everything...sometimes for the better, sometimes not so.....

Look at something as simple are lights. 20 years ago if you drove down the road with no lights on, you didn't get very far before you figured it out, because the interior of you car was completely dark...

Now, all instrument panels are lit day and night. That combined with DRL's. Both features that are designed for safety, and yet how often do you see cars driving today with no lights on.....They can see the instrument panel, because it's lit, and the DRL's are providing some forward lighting...…

Interesting reply. I will take your word for if you are a good guy or not :-) (I like giving people the benefit of the doubt). I give you kudos for giving money to something you believe in. Not that a film like that is for me (I live my life my way and not how someone else thinks I should), but I am sure there are some that would get something out of it. What is the name of it?

Also, what did you mean by the "kept the internet open" bit? Is that a Canadian thing? Speaking of Canada, I do have genealogy that goes back to French/Canadian trappers (most likely) from the early 1800's. So how you doing eh? :-)

I agree with your points. the universe in general is about change. Been that way before life on earth. The thing us humans do better than any other species is invoke change. Many reasons on why that is, but in today's world it is mostly about money. Change means the next big thing. There are pros and cons to change. I would like to think that human kind will shift change of personal profit as the driving force to the betterment of humanity a la Star Trek, but that will be far after I start my dirt nap. In regards to cars, the mantra now is user experience with doing less driving and more entertainment/relaxation. It is a bit away, but that is where it is going. I truly hope that being able to choose to drive is something that sticks around vs being forced to only be driverless. Would be cool to be able to come back a hundred years from now to see how it turned out.

Funny how much this thread has diverged from the original post.

More like leaving the decision making by the multi-stakeholder method instead of by nation. Was on the floor of the General Assembly Hall for two days when it was voted in. I also gave speeches in General Assembly at the UN in New York and at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. That tells you some of it without giving away my identity.

Just call me V6 Guy! Time to move on to the important topic of some guy wanting more excitement in his sports car...

Ah ICANN....nothing really changed other than who gets the money. As much as what some US politicians barked about the change being a security risk etc, it was only all about the money.

I’m staying away from that but I was the sole voice (by that I mean pure grass roots as there were other established advocacy groups) for bloggers “and the like” being recognized for the first time as legitimate media workers in international policy.

If you haven't figured it out already, I'm pretty independent-minded . . . so for me to accept change means that the decision to do so has to be come from within me. It has to come from my own internal reasoning, which is going to include considering what I might be giving up along the way. If I feel I might be giving up too much, it won't matter how big the potential gains might be.

FWIW, I was pretty early to adopt multiport EFI once those systems became available to replace carburetors, so it's not like I'm opposed to change simply because it's different.

Well for what it’s worth Norm. Us old farts will have made it to the limits of car performance! With the Tesla Roadster and the cold air thrusters they are talking like 1.5 second 0-60 times. The base cars are said to be faster than the 1.9 second figure so figure maybe around 1.4 seconds 0-60! Tesla is always conservative with performance numbers.

Anyway, those rockets may not be legal on the street but will on the track or drag strip. We are looking at immediate 2g acceleration which is just shy of unconsciousness which is a problem at 3G and higher. For that kind of acceleration you need a pressure suit to be safe.

What that means for me and you is that cars will not go any faster. They are only as fast as the human body can tolerate and this is it. Someone here mentioned Jay Leno saying the same thing. I think he is getting one also but I don’t know this for a fact.

What does this have to do with this thread? If your disappointed - Buy a Tesla!

I’ll even add this for IC cars. Take your Mustang with a Whipple supercharger. Nothing but wheelspin off the line. Add two rockets and incorporate the exhausts into two of the new quad exhausts. The containers take up the rear seats so now it is a two seater.

Here is the thing...

The rockets are free power! They don’t increase the wheelspin on the road. In fact, by getting that mass moving they make the rear tires hook up to the road better! There - you’re’ laughing. I originally thought about the Hellcat but supercharged Mustangs could also benefit. So to the op: get the car superchargered and experiment with cold air thrusters. BTW: If the idea takes off (pun intended) I really do see this coming to a dealership near you...
