Not too bad at all. Just need to cut out the underside of the hood - I used a dremel with a metal cutting wheel. No need to touch anything on top of the hood as these drop right in place where the factory "vent" was.

Will the factory go right back in or does the cutting render them useless?

There are a number of snap in clips along with two bolts that secure the factory vent in place. I cut out the entire area under the vent to maximize efficiency but if you really wanted the option to reinstall the factory vents you could probably make it work.

Gotcha. Maybe I can just score a factory set and modify it to my liking with a dremel.

Interested how much cooler these make it under hood sitting in traffic. Summertime in Florida I watch my gauge climb fast when sitting. Mos of my driving is city.

Those hood vents are a huge improvement over others I have seen. I would prefer the ability to reinstall stock if necessary.

I have also seen Roush hood vents that had the excess plastic cut out from the underside to open up the vents more and improve air flow.

Agreed. I will run a JLT pre-filter (water resistant) and fab up a removable water sheild to protect the filter - these both will mitigate the issue. Primary objective for the car is HPDE and these along with a center vent will improve cooling and aero. Not for the faint of heart but they should be functional.

The trackspec replacement hood vents should help, alongside their upcoming GT4-styled center vent. I just installed these on my car this weekend but won't be out on the track until next spring to really test.
Thanks to all the replies and ideas. I would try the removal of the rubber molding but I really don't want my hood shaking at speed - especially whipple speed lol.

But those vents - that's what I'm looking for I think. I do the car wash and DD rain thing sometimes too. But I have the closed air whipple box so maybe it wouldn't be an issue? But it would definitely drown the engine bay.

I guess I'll have to be the guy to make a set of louvers with an electric toggle to close them if needed...

Except I've very little idea how I'd do it.

Verus requires the entire vent to be cut out to their shape vs. Trackspec which is “drop-in”
