Not too bad at all. Just need to cut out the underside of the hood - I used a dremel with a metal cutting wheel. No need to touch anything on top of the hood as these drop right in place where the factory "vent" was.Oh well I'll just ask you lol. How difficult was the cutting?
Will the factory go right back in or does the cutting render them useless? Not too bad at all. Just need to cut out the underside of the hood - I used a dremel with a metal cutting wheel. No need to touch anything on top of the hood as these drop right in place where the factory "vent" was.
There are a number of snap in clips along with two bolts that secure the factory vent in place. I cut out the entire area under the vent to maximize efficiency but if you really wanted the option to reinstall the factory vents you could probably make it work. Will the factory go right back in or does the cutting render them useless?
Gotcha. Maybe I can just score a factory set and modify it to my liking with a dremel. There are a number of snap in clips along with two bolts that secure the factory vent in place. Agreed. I will run a JLT pre-filter (water resistant) and fab up a removable water sheild to protect the filter - these both will mitigate the issue. Primary objective for the car is HPDE and these along with a center vent will improve cooling and aero. Not for the faint of heart but they should be functional.i like them but hate idea of drilling hood.plus no good for rain or car washes. filter will get soaked
Thanks to all the replies and ideas. I would try the removal of the rubber molding but I really don't want my hood shaking at speed - especially whipple speed lol.http://trackspecmotorsports.com/mustang-s550-hood-vents-louvers-15-16
The trackspec replacement hood vents should help, alongside their upcoming GT4-styled center vent. I just installed these on my car this weekend but won't be out on the track until next spring to really test.
Man the more I think about it - the more I REALLY like these. Man... what to do about rainy DD days and car washes though?http://trackspecmotorsports.com/mustang-s550-hood-vents-louvers-15-16

I plan to make a set of rain shields to address this. Something similar to these: https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/hood-louver-rain-guard-kit-ft86Man the more I think about it - the more I REALLY like these. Man... what to do about rainy DD days and car washes though?
I don't want to drown my engine bay but these are sick.
Really interested to see what you come up with for rain shields...needed for Florida.I plan to make a set of rain shields to address this. Something similar to these: https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/hood-louver-rain-guard-kit-ft86
