the 2015 mopars have to get a special tune from diablosport with a different ecu. maybe talk to them. not all dealers are going to void a warranty for a tune. at least not around here in kansas
Most dealers probably won't as long as everything is OK with the car. But the minute something happens and they have to send info to Ford so they can diagnose what happened Ford will. You can bet if you blow an engine or tranny and with the MT issues I've seen I wouldn't try it, they would most certainly want all of the ECU history at Ford. Then you're screwed...

this is why I want to find a way around that. a handheld tuner is fine. it does the job, but if you have a stand alone ecu like the AEM one then it eliminates the need to flash your stock ecu. it doesn't piggy back off the oem ecu. now I just need to find out if you have to remove oem ecu and if you do what complications could arise from doing so. one member said ford would have to reflash it, but if you take it out, it should plug right back in without any hickups.

What about the "chips" people used to use? I have seen some that work with the 2015 Mustang, that you plug into the ODB-II port, and they actively alter the programming, and then when you unplug it, it is supposed to leave no trace...

similar to the JMS pedal max? I was under the impression that "chips" didn't do a lot to the car...but I have not researched them.
with the standalone ecu you can tune and set hundreds of different parameters and safeguards to prevent catastrophe. which is why its awesome. however, it is much more then a handheld tuner. but worth it if you run your car hard enough.

That would be 'superchips' and yes they suck.

With all these warranty issues around tunes coming out and car companies trying to fight tuners for copyright infringement, it's only a matter of time before piggybacks and this plug-n-play standalone unit from AEM become more common in the aftermarket world.

My wife got drunk the other night and got the idea in her head that she wants to cash in our retirement account and buy a lake house. Now she's sober and still wants to do this.

I told her this morning to pay off her Honda, my Mustang, the second mortgage and the student loan and we will talk since all this equals another home. But she has to keep in mind we have a daughter starting college in less than two years.
