I've found that the adhesive mount method mentioned by Brent works quite well - I never have completely trusted the suction mount, or maybe it just doesn't work well with Simpson helmets (Mine is a Voyager).. . . before my gopro mount fell off my helmet. Gotta find a better way to stick it on.
Thanks, I bought some adhesive tabs that fit the gopro and it held to my helmet great. I just couldn't get the angle right and everything was washed out outside my windshield, I had spot metering on as well. Could have just been a really sunny day reflecting off the track. I'll have my roll cage in a few weeks and i plan to have it mounted on thatI've found that the adhesive mount method mentioned by Brent works quite well - I never have completely trusted the suction mount, or maybe it just doesn't work well with Simpson helmets (Mine is a Voyager).
I think it comes out better if you DON'T use either the default (1280 x 960)or the maximum video resolution - I shoot everything at 720-30 (1280 x 720), which makes the view out the windshield fill more of the screen while still keeping your hands and knees in the frame most of the time.
Apologies for my little demo only being an S197 video ↓↓↓ which is something I'd snipped for an entirely different purpose but which I think demonstrates the choice-of-resolution matter fairly well.
FWIW, Brent's video looks more like it's from a seatback/headrest post mounting with all that relative helmet motion.
And this whole post is kind of a back door way for me to keep tabs on this thread as I wait for some S550's to post times and videos from sessions at NJMP ;)
