S550 based Lincoln?

The MKS is going to be built in the same plant as the Mustang...and the Fusion. An all-new platform for a single car line isn't cheap, especially when it is an inherently lower-volume car. It would make sense the some Lincoln product would use that platform.

I've seen some god-awful renderings on sites that will never be named and a couple of spy shots that could go either way

S550-based Lincoln? I'm afraid to imagine. Most of what Lincoln puts out has been really uninteresting to me for the past decade or so. They need to replace whoever designs the taillights. Yikes.

IMO the Lincoln brand almost seems beyond redemption. The name itself just evokes images of things that are.....dated and old and boring to me. Would be nice to see a total reboot of a ford luxury brand under a new name. With a RWD V8 Sedan

I think those^ pics are a tad too ostentatious.

I think Lincoln need to differentiate itself from Ford & make un upscale S550 hatch, with a "shooting-brake design".

Make it basically a turbo hatchback Mustang, Call I the Lincoln SVO ..!



But steal some exterior design work from the Merkur. then add a true european, driver centric interior, w/ softer textures and less shinny things.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Lincoln just gets dropped one day. Ford can sell all of its vehicles in different trims including luxury under one nameplate.

Agreed. And that is really sad because "Lincoln" used to mean something -- and that something was a lot more than "Cadillac" meant...

To me it seems a waste to produce the same car under different name plates. That's the 60s-90s approach to car manufacturing. People that recognize Buick and Lincoln are dwindling. Ditching Mercury was a smart move.

At this point, GM should be Cadillac doing what it does best these days, Chevy for general cars and performance with maybe some Pontiac special editions, and GMC for all trucks and vans. Ford could subside solely on using the Ford nameplate. Chrysler can be SRT with the performance muscle, Chrysler for all cars, and Ram for commercial/trucks/vans.

Simplify it all, trim the fat, and stop stealing and confusing your own customers.
