And that thing is butt ugly. Like someone slapped a porsche-esque nose on a Crosstour or ZDX. I have no problem with sedans, but things like the Panamera, Crosstour and ZDX are ugly. Same goes for the M-B CLS, VW CC, etc.

I had a Scorpio, and loved it. Ford should have used Mercury instead of Merkur, and used it as a means of bringing the cooler euroFords like the Puma, StreetKa, etc, to the US. Mercury might have survived and Ford Europe would be stronger
It might be butt-ugly, but that doesn't mean Lincoln can't take that shooting brake design and make a 5-door hatch with the s550 platform and make it look awesome. (Using Merkur cues)

I don't want to own two cars any more. SUV & sports car, I want ONE.

example:
Ford escape and Ford Mustang vs AWD performance 5-door from Lincoln.

How is a Mustang not meant for everyday living?
You drive a front wheel drive car, you ever hear of snow?

Current Mustang's have very little utility for an active humans, where as a hatchback does. Where having AWD does.

Coincidentally, when I was growing up in the 80s, most the Mustangs were hatchbacks and we used them for everything. Taking furniture up to college, hauling my drum kit around, camping, etc.

So, for Lincoln to differentiate themselves from the s550 Mustang's pure sports car heritage, they can take that platform and upscale it for those seeking something more than just raw performance from a Mustang.

I'd easily pay $50k for a small 5-door Lincoln, based on the s550's IRS platform. As long as it has AWD!!

Snow tires. And you can fit a drum kit into a coupe.

AWD!!
I live in Chicago and have driven my mustang year round for 4 years with zero problems.

Meanwhile I see tons of awd cars and suvs spun out on the side of the road.

My first car was a Chevelle. My second car was a Monte Carlo. My third was a MGB. All were driven year round here in Northern Michigan. All without snow tires. Only had one accident in the Chevelle and I was driving way too fast on my bias ply tires.
Mustangs can be used year round.

Having AWD makes some people think their car is unstoppable. I drive my Mustang year round as well though the Mid Atlantic doesn't have nearly the winter weather as Michigan but it can strike suddenly here.

It was 40 degrees and clear when I left for work this day. It decided to drop an inch within an hour and while this looks like nothing compared to a real snow storm, the roads were not pre-treated. Talk about a ice skating! And those are summer tires!

I used to love Lincoln. In my mind a great Lincoln is a style leader but in a classic sense. Unique design, tech and power not available elsewhere. If there is to be a flat plane Coyote it belongs exclusively in a Lincoln. But please Ford, no obviously rebadged or re-bodied Fords. If you are tempted to go that route just brand everything Ford, kill Lincoln and follow the Mercedes pathway.
