Hey yall just recently picked up a manual gt. This is my first manual car so I’ve been practicing rev matching and I think I’ve gotten pretty consistent with it. My only issue I’m noticing is 3rd to 2nd when it gets hot out. I feel like if the cars been sitting in the sun my muscle memory gets thrown off and I have to rev harder. Anyone else experience similar or am I just bad at rev matching. If so how can I counteract the inconsistent throttle response

3rd to 2nd is a bitch unless im in sport or track mode. Normal mode has a very lazy throttle response.

Drive by wire sucks. If you really want to seamlessly shift up and down without any hiccups, get a car with a cable throttle. Especially if you want to row the gears fast.

Ya I know drive by wire isn’t exactly ideal and 3->2 is pretty tough compared to the other gears. I just want to confirm the reason I have to rev way harder when rev matching it when it’s hot out is probably because heat soak? If so how can I counteract

All you can do is practice. I seriously doubt the engine will react consistently. So you will have to learn how it reacts under similar conditions and anticipate what it will or won't do.

Ford's system is torque request based , which works very well, but it will never mimic a carb in consistent response.

Probably the engine is pulling a bit of timing and you're losing responsiveness. Like i said in my first post, did you try a different drive mode?

This is exactly why I ended up buying an auto.
The manual/stick is quite heavy and difficult to match, sometimes very difficult.
I’m pleased I bought an auto because I like it!
