I kinda feel stupid asking this question but I could not find a reason in the owners manual as to what would make it blink. The situation was, I was heavy on the throttle going on a on ramp and noticed that the "S" indicator for the transmission on the instrument panel was flashing. Thanks for any help.

I am guessing that even if you are not in regular "D" mode, when you go heavy on the throttle, the car temporarily switches to "S" mode? I am guessing that it will use a different shift point mapping for the 10AT?

I am saying this because the active valve exhaust does a similar thing.
When you put the car in quiet mode, the exhaust is REALLY quiet, but in many youtube videos, people do a WOT acceleration and then talk about how when you do that, the dB is same/similar to sport+ mode.

It is my understanding that when you WOT, the active valve on the exhaust will open up to let more exhaust flow, ending up with the increased sound. there are a few youtube reviewers that go off on how the quiet mode really isn't all that quiet, and then in the video they are doing a WOT from standstill. I am guessing the car does something similar with the tranny when you floor it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It happened to me while the transmission was in "D". Not in "S".

Is this speculation or fact and if fact, where is it documented?
speculation 100%...

I drove a few cars (all manuals) that suggest an upshift while you are driving, right now, i can think of a hummer H3, the fucking up shift light was always popping if you didn't shift at like 2000 rpm

Pure speculation - it may be that, due to the way you're currently driving, the gearbox is temporarily using the S shifting strategy.

There has never been any indication that our cars are able to do this. But then again I’ve never heard of the transmission gear indicators in the dash flashing. That is the mystery of life.

By the way we are talking about this “S”, right?

It's never happened before, but this was the first time that I drove it and got on it since I did the Whipple update.
