Mate, I think you got it perfectly correct. I bought this thing WAY over list price, for a used one, then realized that I had a lemon. Then the car got damaged. Now I can't get a bid, nothing, not even a low-ball bid. I'm stuck with it.
I didn't know it had got damaged, what happened ? (or was that the brake thing ?) :frown:

WD :like:

edit - and why is it a lemon ? :frown:

The best solution is to just go drive it and have some fun!

If you really want to sell I would talk to a dealer to sell it on commission. Very few people will want to but a £60k+ car through anybody other than a dealer or specialist.

Prices wont rise for the Mach 1 short to medium term IMO (they are firm against the RRP though like most cars at the moment) so you can either hang on and hope a private buyer comes along or take the hit. Leave it to long and if you are forced to sell to the trade you could well take an even bigger kick in. I doubt a private buyer is going to go higher than £54k say for a 71 plate, low miles, private buyers in my experience at that price point are usually on the ball or traders buying in the open market buying good example high spec, low mileage cars.

How much is yours on for?

Had mine serviced via an independent garage and he pointed out this is happening on my bonnet. 2016 20k miles pampered to death too. Sigh, I've got 2 stamps in the book about paint inspections, one from Ford and one from this garage when they serviced it last year. See what happens. I'm getting g so fed up with all these niggles I'm tempted chop it in and get a jag f pace or something.

Best of luck with Jag reliability!

For the most part post 2009 jags are bullet proof. Line any newish car expect usual quirks but won't be stranded.

Deals on prestine XK / XKR the coupes are hatch backs tons of room.
Jaguar have a very poor reliability record between 2005 - 2018, they were very good before and much better recently. XK is an old car which ironically for this thread had regular problems with aluminium corrosion, especially on the leading edge of the doors.

It doesn't take much to find the info - even Jaguar admit it!

Thank guys. Anyone know a good ford body shop in the northwest, I'm in Chester. Used oswestry in the past but honestly it took them 4 attempts at fixing the heated seat. Is there a tsb about this issue I can show them?

I had my panels replaced at Evans Halshaw Old Trafford because I figured they also do Aston Martin work there and are therefore should be experienced with painting alloy panels.. clever eh!.

AVOID them like the plague.

The replacement bonnet came back looking great.. But on opening it up I discovered they hadn't applied the seam sealer AT ALL!. So the car went back. second time round they had applied MOST OF the sealer, but now I had overspray on the edges. I also then noticed a paint run on the new front wing. I had to apply the rest of the sealer myself and paint over it.

There was a guy on the Facebook mustang uk forum who works at one of the southern Ford dealers in the paint shop. He was posting plenty of photos of doing replacement panel work on Mustangs for this issue and was very vocal on the terrible build quality, but he paints the inside of the panels before fitting, and he applies the seam sealer properly. I would drive from Cheshire down south to get him to paint it to be honest.

Do you know his name or the dealers name? Trouble is won't they want to first inspect it then paint it on another day so two trips minimum?

also note that there is an issue on timing chain tensioners with the 5.0L Jag/Landrover V8.
The last of the XK's are lovely cars, but they do have a couple of faults. (oxidisation and tensioners). Get a good one and you are onto a winner. Get a bad one and it will cost more to put right than the Mustang will. Suspect a Maserati Grantourismo 4.7 Auto is the best bet.

Now there is a high risk, high gain purchase. On the days it is working it will be fantastic, but for the rest it will drain your wallet!

Car magazine this month tells of how their new Jaguar F Pace (nearly £53k ) broke down with a thrown belt and had to be trucked away.

Their other JLR product also required a home assistance visit!

Update: my corroded hood (bonnet) was replaced this week; shout out to Dinnages in Haywards Heath who handled the entire process extremely professionally and have delivered a first class paint job. Also, thanks to Ford UK who recommended them.

Thats great news!

I saw the new body shop manager last Monday at Furrows - he's quite new in the role but looked at my car and said you need a new bonnet. He said ring back in July and we will book it in for Aug as he's swamped with work. Does this sound OK or do you think I'll get to July and there's little chance of it happening so soon after due to how ford treat us?
