Just spoken with my body shop who say they are only prepared to fit the factory bonnet and wings from ford as that is what ford have said they would find replacement of. I guess it's better than nothing but I fully expect them to go again in 3-5 years. I guess at that point the car will be 10 years old and I will have close to 100k miles on the clock and can rethink.

i would recommend selling it and buying something not supported by ford.

i've had 3 new bonnets now and i've just noticed my latest bonnet and both wings are going (bonnet has been on less than 12 months) all full part replace and fitted/sprayed by 3rd parties not ford themselves as in the uk ford dealerships usually outsource anyway.

its not contamination under the paint as then it'd be less common than it is, its sympathetic anodization i believe the term is as its differing metals that aren't electrically isolated from each other and so cause minor current which causes the bubbling.

only way to fix is to replace with plastic/fibreglass/cf or as suggested scrap the whole lot and buy something else. If you really want a horror story look under your car after 6 years of british winters where ford tell you it doesn't need underseal as its galv....... yeah about that ford.
tis true for sure that most car makers dont underseal their cas, cheaper and makes us buy new cars more often. I actually have rust on the engine bay support strut, that the K bar ? Defo need to get my aftermarket underseal checked and see how it's faired :(

Hi, I came checking the forums for similar issues. I recently bought a 2020 Bullitt and took it to paint correction and the guys made notice of slight bubbling on the inner edge of the front wing and almost similar on the outer edge of the left wing.
I checked with the dealer who sold it and after a whole day of back and forth calls to him and a body shop they said they were going to have a look at the issue; but originally they didn’t want to help and put me through a “warranty specialist “ that said it wasn’t covered because in the service book under previous owner the paint and body inspection was never carried out.
I wanted to ask you if you finally had the service done and what it involved and how long it took. I’m dreading they might want to go the cheapest way and do a bad job on it.

Hi.

Yeah all sorted at no cost to me. That's the good part. I got Ford UK to agree this was a known fault and as such the bought a new bonnet and wings and then my local ford approved body shop painted and fitted.

The bad news is the panels don't really seem to fit like they did before. The panel gaps are wrong in places and honestly the bonnet looks like it's a slightly different shape in places so the panel can never line up with the wing. Also one of the wings is a bit bent where it either came off the mould at the corner or it's been dropped so it's wonky. Honestly I'm not super happy but I didn't have the energy to argue about it. I'll try to attach some pics. You may say I'm being picky!

I should add I had to prove I bought this from new and had a full and current ford main dealer service record.

They look quite good to me. My worry is with the specific colour of the Bullitt, whether they match it to the rest of the car or it ends up different tone.
I had to argue that previous owner never hat or checked and somehow they are going to check the issue and probably go ahead with the solution.
How long did it take in your case?

never understand Ford's attitude with the stamps in the book. Did I book it in for the yearly services, did i say I wanted it done by the book, why didn't you do it by the book. Fck all point getting Ford to do the service if they wont stand by their warranty or their work. I doubt they are any worse than any other brand but deary me thats no excuse

Fwiw I was worried the paint may not match after 5 years in the sunlight but it looks fine. It's not the same colour but if you want a guide.

Yeah Ford UK initially said I should have had the paint inspection completed every year and marked on my record. I did argue they never even offered and the lady who dealt with my case agreed the main dealers never bother and it's not good enough. To be honest I couldn't fault the experience with Ford UK from start to finish. Zero complaints at all and initially I didn't really expect them to honour my claim.

So they replaced everything with parts matching the original paint. Was it a quick turnaround or did you have to wait weeks, months?

Also I find it very confusing as the manual says up to 60 000 miles warranty, but it doesn’t specify if it includes the wings. The website mentions lifetime warranty against corrosion and other people say it’s up to 5 years (?)
Still not clear, and Ford UK tries avoiding honoring the warranty.

I think I had approval of the claim within a week of contacting. They notified the garage who then bought new parts for the bonnet and wings and also replacement factory fitted decals. Once they arrived the body shop painted the new panels and applied the new decals (very badly so i complained and had them redone).

From what I can remember I did need to be within the 5 year period but I was anyway. Don't quote me on that bit though

So, it took around a month to have the work done? Was it in 2023 or earlier?

Oh yeah within a month or so. Can't remember specifics. This was last August.
