No offense to anyone in this thread but this just reaffirms my position that I don't buy used cares. Sorry Dave Ramsey.

... because a car that's had something spilled on it is too ruined for you to ever drive?

So far, I have a pretty big spot in the front driver's seat where I dropped a sandwich I was eating between my legs while I was driving, and mayonnaise got on the seat... it's really difficult to get it out of the perforations in the leather, and so far I haven't bothered.

Also, the leather boot around the handbrake is an absolute MAGNET for crumbs; I pulled the handbrake this morning and there was a veritable mountain of sandwich crumbs and whatnot stuck in the leather in front of the brake and also between the brake and the center console. Did my best to wipe it out with a napkin; no big.
That's what happens when you live in a city loaded with awesome delicatessens:p

It is a customization feature that makes it more yours!

We all want our new car to stay new as long as possible but the reality of it is it is a machine to use. I have never been one to cover my livingroom furniture in plastic to keep it 'new'; new for who? The next owner?

Yup, I know the opposing argument...I too know a guy who has a 1970 Mach 1 in the garage he has had since new and it is gorgeous. All 18,000 miles of it. The only people that enjoy it are the people that attend the shows he takes it to. Sorry, I am not that guy. Spill a Frosty on my floor and I will mop it up and be on my way!
My mother once said she wants to out live her furniture. That I can understand. But I am not letting food in my car. Last week we had to go on a 500 miles round trip to New Jersey for the holidays. It would have been great going in the Mustang. But my wife said there is no way she is going all that way without eating on the way. So we went in her car

LOL, no because I am very particular about my vehicles. I will pay extra to not have crumbs in the handbrake, mayo in the seat perforations, etc, etc. I am OCD about my vehicles.

2 summers ago I was walking through Rome when I spotted this beautiful tall Italian woman (probably only 5' 5" but on 6 in heels). Wearing tight cut jeans and a body form shirt with a little rhinestone saying: "I have the ***** I make the Rules"

One day your wife is gonna figure that one out and your gonna be toast....and crumb'd.

Absolutely no food or drink in my car unless it's a bottle of water with a seal-able lid.

You guys that don't have them are missing out on the weathertech digitalfit floor mats. The fit great, and I don't worry about getting my shoes clean before getting in too much cause all I have to do is pull them out and wipe them down. Well spent 100 dollars (170 with the rears)

I actually bought a set of 50-year floor matts off Amazon for not much. I will toss the 'real' 50th anniversary ones in some plastic and put them away. If these get trashed (like all my floor matts do) I will buy another set off eBay. In 25 years at the 75th anniversary party I will put them back in the car for the show. Then, back in the plastic...LOL

Keep a box of table salt (or two) around. If you spill something, Dump some salt on it, vacuum, repeat until the moisture is gone. Give the salt a little time to wick things up.
