My son and I recently installed the Roush phase 2 supercharger on my 2021 GT A10 about 8,500 miles on it.

Everything went great and flashed the pcm with the Roush tune with no issues or codes. The only thing I am noticing now, I seem to have the hard shifting that has been talked about. Not much of an issue in normal mode, but sport + bucks pretty good. I have read a lot of the links and definitely don’t believe it’s a level issue. Car did not do this before the install.

I reached out to Roush and never got a response. Has anyone else had an issue with the Roush tune? I don’t believe any of the Ford dealers on island have any partnership with Roush. Car runs great and is stupid fast, but it hits hard.

Seems to be ok in normal. Definitely more of a lag from a stop, but not noticing the hard shifts.

I don't have a known 2021-3 Roush mustang tune on hand, but the 2018-20's that I have show that Roush barely touches anything in the transmission tuning. If you post your strategy or OSID I can pull it up and compare it to a stock Ford file.

I took this photo when we flashing the PCM, not sure if this helps. Appreciate the help!

Through PCMTec, I have access to your stock file and that Roush file, and can compare them. As far as the transmission shift firmness goes, here are the changes I see:

- The 3 shift firmness characteristics are still assigned to the same drive modes. E.g. base is character 0/soft, paddle shifting, sport, sport paddle are all character 1/medium, and drag is still character 2/harsh.
- Small amount of stroke pressure added to various shifts at various torques and rpm. I don't think this would affect shift firmness.
- Character 1/sport shift durations reduced for 1-2 at light throttle, increased at medium throttle for 3-4, and changed for 4-5 (some faster some slower).
- Most of the shift maps/schedules were changed but not dramatically.
- Minor changes to the TCC slip maps.
- Various minor changes to the clutch torque transfer rates.
- 3-4 shift torque modulation reduced at light throttle and increased at heavy throttle in both base and sport modes.

Honestly, most of these changes were probably done by Ford as part of various routine revisions and Roush probably started with a different base file so you inherited these OEM changes as well. Some of the changes are from Roush but those wouldn't make it harsher.

My suggestion is to drive for a while and let the adaptives learn. It might smooth out, as I don't see changes to the tune that would make it consistently harsher than stock. If you still don't like it, I'd recommend getting PCMTec software and dongle and you can customize the shift firmness all you want.

Much appreciated! I was wondering about the adaptive learning. I will definitely put some more miles on it and hope it smoothes out. Really appreciate you taking a look at things! Mahalo

Mine is still na, just a JLT, long tubes E85 (and 91) tune from PBD, and it shifts hard also when under a load. If I'm just cruising, feels stock. A little bit of throttle, and it shifts pretty hard and will sometimes make it look like I'm driving a manual and don't know how to shift.

I like the PBD tune, but I don't think it's unique to Rousch tunes.

When I go ESS, I will go with Wengerd, heard great things about his trans tuning.

Never heard anything good about PBD especially their transmission tuning.

They used to be solid for a bit then seemed to peak and go down hill fast. Almost like they are the new BAMA tuning. I remember when BAMA was great and had some solid tuners, then they all moved on and they just became the "crappy canned tune" company for American Muscle.

the trans tunes are much better now that rob left and ken took over the tuning again. Robs a great guy, just not the best with the 10 speed. Ken revamped the entire 10r tuning
