This says optimized for 91 octane...Question, would one see better power and torque gains if running 93? If so how much better?

I got a reply from Roush, and they sent me a picture of the dyno graph they're using to state their claims. The picture is small and the bottom is cut off, but you get the idea.

I wonder how well this works on autos? It'd be nice to know if it changes the shifting and throttle response. I really want to tune my car but I don't want to void my warranty and this seems like a great way to do it but not if it's a mediocre tune. Plus, I pretty much use 92 exclusively so I wonder how the tune compensates for that.

it won't be a flex fuel tune, but the knock sensors will have a set max allowable spark based on octane / knock

I think what he was asking was similar to what I was asking, If I run only 93 do I get anymore out of this tune than say the 91 that it is optimized for? Thanks.

I'm not a huge fan of having to go to a Roush dealer or shop to get the tune installed. I like to do all of the work on my car that I reasonably can, but since the CAI doesn't have a removable insert, it probably isn't a good idea to put it on and then drive the car to the dealer to get the tune.

I'm still up in the air on this one or perhaps a Lund tune... I like the idea of being able to get tuned for headers or cams later down the line should I be so inclined to do that. I just don't know if I will. I also have no experience with tuning, so I'm a little hesitant to go with anyone outside of Roush or Ford Racing.

Thanks for the help!

I want to trust Roush, but I'm curious as to whether or not the "Power Pack" with the CAI really does add 10 more horsepower than the "Flash Pack" alone does. My understanding was that the stock airbox was essentially a CAI and you'd see no gains from an aftermarket one. My dealership just got these in and I had planned on getting just the Flash Pack because I assumed there'd be no difference with a CAI.

Rousch claimed their CAI by itself would make 10HP without a tune when it came out last year. I think Steeda said the same about theirs. Maybe open box CAI's make a little more on a dyno, however on the strip others have show stock to perform better....Me I'm caught in the middle because I don't drag my car but love to drive her hard on the street(no racing) just a hard pull now and then. I was told by a Ford Performance shop local to me not to mess with anything unless I put a blower on it....Then again these guys couldn't even align the tips on my FRPP catback exhaust I had them install....

Yea, every company makes similar claims about their CAI's...

Any updates on these? My local dealer got them in but I have no examples of them to check out before a purchase. Is the tune conservative or aggressive? Do they require the full power pack with Roush CAI or can it be done with all stock components and just a flash tune? Is it custom or canned? Doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about them on this board since they came out.

They offer a flash pack that is just the tune without the CAI. Earlier in the thread I posted the dyno graph Roush provided me when I asked them about the tune+CAI pack. I'm sure it's a "canned" tune in the sense that no one from Roush is coming out to personally tune your car or look at any logs you submit them. They actually don't provide a tuning device; the tune needs to be installed at a Roush dealer or certified installer.

I wonder if you can use their tune with other intakes such as steeda no insert or jlt?

Decided to get the flash pack on my auto gt to see if power gains from the tune are as advertised. I'm in service center awaiting completion of flash pack + oil change. Will give feedback from butt dyno and then try to get some actual dyno results asap.
