I recently bought a 2017 mustang GT performance package with a 2018+ manifold, IMRC lockout, lu47 injectors, and JLT intake. The car was previously tuned by PBD (palm beach) for 93/E85 and the tunes were okay but not the best. I switched to Lund to get a 91/E85 tune because 91 is way easier to find than 93 where I’m at. On the palm beach e85 tune the car runs great much better than the 93 tune and both tunes had no idle issues at all. I’ve gone through 5 revisions and 4 datalogs with Lund and I have a really bad idle issue now (video attached). Lund claims it’s my car that has problems but won’t give me any direction as to what I should be fixing. I did all the basics as far as cleaning MAF, throttle body, and even smoke testing for vacuum leaks with no results. I’ve seen some horror stories about Lund blaming the customers when it was a tune issue. Looking for any input as to extra things to check or maybe just an opinion on if it’s actually my car or if it’s Lund? Lund claims palm beach tuned around existing issues but the previous owner said it was a very quick and painless process to get it tuned. Thanks for any input/knowledge!

NOTE: Check engine light came on with the Lund tune and it’s for crank position. I already tried doing the relearn and nothing changed only the light went away.

I'd have a fresh set of eyes look at it
I’ve had 3 different people look at it so far and haven’t really come to a clear conclusion. I’ll keep trying. Thanks!

If the PBD tunes work with no issues, and the only change you’re making is the tune, I’d ask Lund for a refund and then pay PBD for an updated 91 tune. If Lund won’t refund you just do a CC dispute since there appears to be issues and they won’t resolve it.

Other than that, without a data log it’ll be hard to point you in any direction if you’ve done all the basic idle issue troubleshooting correctly. You could toss a crank position sensor at it since you did get a code for it. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I’ve sent back 4 datalogs at 10-15 minutes each of idling, driving, revving to certain rpm all that jazz to Lund and all they say is it’s my problem not the tune unfortunately. Code for crank position goes away after doing the relearn and the tuner from Lund claims that’s a common CEL code that gets thrown on their tunes. I believe I’ll try to get a refund but I have a feeling they won’t be too quick to settle. Thanks for the reply!

I mean it’s hard for us to help you without a data log showing the issue. If you want to send me one I’ll take a look and try to see if I see anything out of place. Shoot me a message if you want.

I do not have an elaborate setup like you but have been dealing with an idle issue like this for quite a while on my 2015 GT, with no check engine light. I replaced the throttle body, MAF, yada yada. Tired of throwing money at the problem. My last resort is replacing the O2 sensors, which I am getting done this week. Try that yet? There are 4 of them

Might be worth diving into. Lund had briefly asked about the o2 sensors but after I gave them the pictures they wanted that was the end of that so I’m not sure what they were searching for.

Can you reload the PBD tune and have it run fine, or has something changed with the car since that tune?
Car runs fine on pbd tune people just recommended Lund cause I needed a 91 tune anyway so I figured why not get both. On the Lund tune though it hardly idles and stalls.
