Hi,

I need a new battery and tried the Yuasa recommended by Halfords, but it‘s too tall and the battery cover won‘t fit neatly.

Can anyone recommend a good quality battery with high amp hours that will fit?

Cheers
David

I'd be interested to know this too, I'm currently using the Yuasa too and had to adjust the bonnet latch to get it shut with the battery cover on.

Found a pic side by side, it’s HSB 075, identical size to the motorcraft

Op, what did Halfords recommend, this is my reg recommendation, which is the one I have, they also show an HCB075 with less cranking amps so avoided it.

Thanks for all the pointers. I‘ve figured it out now.

When I looked at batteries 3 years ago, Halfords recommended HSB 013 which was too tall (190mm). They are now recommending HSB 075 which is correct at 175mm.

Cheers

I need another new battery, lack of driving and constantly having the doors open while working on it has completely drained the battery till dead too many times. The battery is about 3 years old but it completely drains after about 3 weeks of no use.

Doh, I missed out on the discount.

I just fitted an HSB 075 which worked great. Took me 30 minutes as I didn't realise it has spacers attached that have to be removed to get the clamp to fit.

Purchase online get 10% off, then either collect from store in 7 days or collect from an autocentre 55 miles away. I have a store 1 mile away

Found the battery in store, explained to the cashier about the online discount and got another £5 on top by creating a user account online and signing up to their free membership.

My battery was dead yesterday, so I left it charging for 10 hours and today it said it was 80% charged but the car wouldn't start. It was only showing 10v, connecting it to the car it dropped to 8v and the car was spasming, you could hear relays and the TB twitching. Halfords tested the battery with their Yuasa tool and said it was 6% charged and it said replace. Time to cash in on that 5 year Yuasa warranty.

They will know the battery has been misused and the warranty won't cover that - if they check, they will kick it back :frown:

But good luck with the claim, they aren't the cheapest of things :like:

Yeah the warranty is shit, the new one says "5 year guarantee", which is to cover manufacturing defects.

3.5 years battery life is pretty shit, if I had more time I would have looked into other brands
