Maybe it's just me and my luck but just in case I'll share my experience with removing the clutch helper spring.

It definitely help for shifting and get a more linear feel for the engagement point. However last week my clutch pedal started squeaking when I was clutching in and I notice that the pedal had some lateral motion as well.

I put the helper spring back in and now the motion is gone but the squeaking is still present.

went for my 1st oil change today at the dealership and I told them about the squeaking noise. They could reproduce it but being a new car they didn't want to mess up with it. Ford is asking them to report anything 1st. So they escalated the situation and I'm now waiting to have an engineer to come and check. They did try to lube parts of it but no change.

They pinpoint the origin to either the pivot point or the push rod. The tech told me that the pedal is metal but the assembly is mounted inside a plastic part which could be the weak link here.

So maybe my case is an isolated incident but if it is indeed the case of that plastic part causing the noise I think that taking the helper spring out might accelerate the wear and tear on the clutch pedal assembly.

and if they decide to replace it, they have to take the clutch and brake pedal out all together because it is 1 big assembly.

Just a heads up

I doubt the helper spring is alleviating any force on the pivot or the pushrod, it just makes it feel easier for your leg. I very much doubt removing it accelerated this problem.

I'm interested to see if anyone else has experienced this. I am debating this myself but I don't want to cause any premature wear or void my warranty in anyway. Im quite sure neither would happen. I am just being extremely cautious as this is my first brand new car.

I am not :ford: but I have told a ford dealership member about this modification and apparently it is a popular one that many have done in the past and has not been linked to any issues and will not void anything. FWIW

looks like it's just my luck.

almost 2 weeks now that I had the dealership look at it and they still haven't got back to me. traveling abroad next week but when I'm back I'm just going to tell them that I don't care if they have to swap the entire clutch brake pedal assembly because this is flipping annoying and shouldn't be happening on a car with less than 5k miles :frusty:

Let me help ease your mind while on vacation! Send me a PM cameleon1267; include your VIN, mileage, name, phone number, and dealer info. I'll see how I can help the process. :D
