Maybe it's just me and my luck but just in case I'll share my experience with removing the clutch helper spring.
It definitely help for shifting and get a more linear feel for the engagement point. However last week my clutch pedal started squeaking when I was clutching in and I notice that the pedal had some lateral motion as well.
I put the helper spring back in and now the motion is gone but the squeaking is still present.
went for my 1st oil change today at the dealership and I told them about the squeaking noise. They could reproduce it but being a new car they didn't want to mess up with it. Ford is asking them to report anything 1st. So they escalated the situation and I'm now waiting to have an engineer to come and check. They did try to lube parts of it but no change.
They pinpoint the origin to either the pivot point or the push rod. The tech told me that the pedal is metal but the assembly is mounted inside a plastic part which could be the weak link here.
So maybe my case is an isolated incident but if it is indeed the case of that plastic part causing the noise I think that taking the helper spring out might accelerate the wear and tear on the clutch pedal assembly.
and if they decide to replace it, they have to take the clutch and brake pedal out all together because it is 1 big assembly.
Just a heads up
