Yeah, I also did all these cooling mods not because of necessity or an issue per say. Noting wrong with the Whipple setup running without, but I just like to always optimize everything.

Soooo, am I trimming the vents out or not. Don’t feel like you guys thought it made a significant difference by itself.

It makes a big difference, and when you start running it hard and hot and you ECT and AIT2 tables as well as Cyl temp start pulling timing. This all helps keep the spark tables happier in the positive numbers.

I look at it like this, take a look at the GT4 races last year. Their hood has vents all over it. Must be a reason, right? Yeah, yeah, I know, that's a race car. But they wouldn't put the vents on if it didn't help. Look at the size of the opening in your stock vents and look at the opening of what we did. MUCH larger opening for heat to get out. PLUS, I also have a Velossa Tech Big Mouth to prevent sucking hot air in from the radiator/engine when sitting in traffic. Do the vents help? . . .Yes. But it's the other things WITH the vents that make it all come together. Kinda like if you JUST add a supercharger. You'll haul *ss, but you need a tune for it, bigger injectors, suspension goodies, wider tires, heat exchanger, fuel pump booster, lower thermostat, etc,. etc. Whether you do it or not is up to you, but I really feel it helps. And you get much hotter more often down there than we do. Plus, like Roh92cp, I like little projects to improve things just to see what happens.

For me, I race my car a few times a year. It made a very big difference with underhood temps for me and helped keep my coolant and oil temps reasonable. Plus the added bonus of improving my high speed aero and front-end lift.
