Look into the factory power packs. Might be able to keep the warranty. And have the tune??;)

I thought about that, but I heard you need to have a dealer install them to keep the warranty which could get pricey, but I do like the powerpack #3, should make some nice power. I'm grabbing a Roush axle-back tomorrow. The stock exhaust is way too quiet but that's all I'll be buying in the new future for it, until I save up some more money.

These transmissions are tough! Bulletproof even.Thats why I wanted it.

OP if your new 2016 GT is brand new you should follow the break in procedure on pg 187 of the owners manual " Avoid driving too fast during the first 1000 miles. Very your speed frequently and change up through the gears early. Do not labor the engine. Do not tow during the first 1000 miles." Brand new engines and transmissions need the break period to wear them selves in. I know you want to feel the power of your new car but you should treat it like you want it to last a long lifetime for the first 1000 miles.

Yeah you're right, I haven't been pushing it too hard, just a quick drive with a few quick accelerations each night, but I've only floored it once or twice. I'm at just over 600 miles now. I thought it was a 500 mile break-in, until I read the manual. I guess I need to take it easy for another 400 miles or so. It was delivered to my dealer, so they put about 200 highway miles on it, I was hoping that was enough to break it in haha. I prefer to drive in sport mode, but the rev's do get pretty high in that mode, even when taking it easy.

Auto only for me. This a rev happy motor and feels diff from my modded LS2.

I'm new to the S550, I've had it about 5 or 6 days now, but i've been having a lot of fun and racking up miles on it. Anyway, I have an auto...(yeah yeah I know.) and I've noticed when I get on it in sport mode it will redline, lighting the gauge up red. Is this OK? I figured even in sport mode it would keep it from doing this. I don't want to destroy the transmission on the car.

When the gauges turn red, it only indicates that the RPMs have reached the 6800 redline, nothing more. 6800 rpm is safe for this motor. The only issue about running to redline (or sustained higher RPMs) is overheating, such as is possible on track days. Otherwise it's no big deal.

You can use the red gauges as an indicator to shift (such as with your paddles), or as a reminder TO shift (such as when you forgot you were in manual mode, and assumed the tranny would shift for you. :lol: )

As for break-in, there seems to be two schools of thought. A) Break it in gradually, as per the manual. Or B) Drive it like you stole it. There are forum threads (arguments) on both methods.

However, my car suddenly felt like it "loosened up" at ~1000 miles, and others have commented on this also.

This is the best automatic trans I've ever had, and easily on par with my other favorite the GM Turbo 400 (per my 1970 Olds 442 and 1970 Trans Am. It's just a great trans and Ford did a great job with the calibration. I'd like just a little more snap on the 1-2.
My T/A and 442 would chirp rather loudly on WOT on the 1-2 and sometimes 2-3 if I caught it just right.

God damn son. How much more are you planning to make? That's 900 at the wheels. So over 1100 crank.

Nah 2015Etrac, having an auto doesn't mean it's something less. I've read several guys on here really like these auto's and are performing very well. I preferred the 6spd, but that's just me. And man, once you start modding, it can be tough to stop. These cars respond well to mods.

I love the manual, but being able to jump into an Auto from time to time would be great!

Nope, you aren't the only one. My work car is a manual also, I don't mind it all.

Nope I have no issues driving my manual in stop and go and my left leg has a 10 year old replacement knee...lol

I would love a better shifting around 3000rpm under half throttle.
It's very jerky.
Anything below or above it's butter smooth.

Has any one with the auto taken they car to track days for some circuit work? How did the trans hold up with getting hot?
