Trying to decide whether or not to go with Recaros. How are the side bolsters holding up over time? With my decidedly ungraceful entry/exit technique after a test drive, I'm wondering how they are going to look in a year or so.

Mine are holding up really well after one year.

My guess is that the Recaro's will hold up much better over the long run than leather seats. Main consideration should be that the Recaro's make it hard to get in and out, at least for certain body types. I think the cloth Recaro's are lighter and breathe better than the Recaro's I used to have in my GT PP. The Recaro's in the GT350 are extremely comfortable and supportive.

1year, 10 days since purchase and seats are awesome!!!! Bolstering does get in the way at first but you will have to figure out how you enter/exit the car. I have no problems and bolstering is like new.

Its a very tough cloth on the bolsters. I'd not worry about it unless you have metallic objects that will be rubbing on it.

FWIW, the convenience seats driver-side bolster wears almost instantly near your left hip if you make any contact with it getting in and out. It's not terrible mind you, but both of my 350s already had/have some wear after a few thousand miles.

I have the leather Recaros and after 20K+ miles they are still okay but you do get a light level of striping in the leather on the left side bolster from entering and exiting. The rest of the seat is still like new.

If it fits your equipment wishes get the cloth ones though. They hold you even better in place and fabric is always a lot more wear resistant than leather.

This is so true...the raised piping (black) on the outboard bolster chafes turning a scuffed gray on these seats...almost looks like to keep them nice you have to wear seat friendly pants (not denim)! Might need some type of dye, maybe shoe polish to make them black again...it's too bad because otherwise they have been comfortable and supportive so far. Not sure if this is a design problem or material issue.

Sorry Eric...I'm echoing your comments as well...just read them now...

I found I have to move the seat back every time I get in or out.

I do the same. I added a piece of cloth tape to the side of the center console by my right leg that marks the forward position of the seat after I get in. Simple solution, and no seat bolster wear from getting in and out.

 I laugh because I see myself in this statement.

The regular seats, especially cloth ones, hold you in great for spirited driving. On a road course, they're even pretty good. But I have taken a hard spin in a car with Recaros and felt SO MUCH MORE secure and able to concentrate on the drive. I regret every day falling for the heated and cooled seats BS, which I almost never use. Along with the garbage Shaker stereo I paid extra for... don't use that much either. I am trying out "track seats" now. I've tried out Braum's - look nice, a little wide in the bolstering department but I haven't tracked a car with them. Haven't tried out any others. But I dislike I lose my airbags... unless I spend $3K or so for "Ford Performance" Recaros. IMHO, get the Recaros IF you want to track the car, get the regular seats if you want to just go fast in a straight line. Worth noting, the Recaros are much lighter.

A Fusion I had could do this automatically. I would so, so love that feature for this car. The fact that it doesn't have seat memory probably has something to do with it also not being there though.
