No kidding, really? 🙄 Did you see where I suggested the person who called the OP may have been mistaken...?
I don’t care where you put that, I just wrote that because I wanted.

I was just wondering if you read what you were replying to. Nice of you to define the acronym for those who didn't know. 👍🏼

So I went and got my car back today. She said if I really want to take it, I had to sign a waiver.

Waiver was handwritten at the bottom of the car's worksheet. 🤦‍♂️

This surely isn't a legit Ford procedure??

BS… that dealer is not serious. Think about to change of the dealership. They want your car just to charge more money to warranty/Ford/Factory/insurance/whoever. Simple as that. If they don’t know or there is no solution yet, why the heck they want to keep your car. That’s stupid.

Unless they are going to give you a free loaner, sign it and move on.

This is the low brake fluid light recall, right? I've never seen a reason for that light if one keeps up with maintenance, I mean if a hose blows it's pretty obvious. If the pads are worn so bad as to turn on the light it will also be obvious.

A few thoughts;
Do the laws in your country allow an unsafe vehicle to be "grounded" by a repair shop?
In the US they cannot keep your vehicle from you unless there is an outstanding bill.
They can "red flag" the car. Which is making the owner acknowledge in writing they have been told the car is unsafe.
Much like what you have there.
You'd think a dealership would have an actual form to sign though, not a scribble on the bottom of the work order.
If it's possible, you could consider a different dealership.
In any case, I'd be filing a complaint with Ford cooperate.

Correct! Let Ford know what is happening here. If it's your daily, then request a loaner, if it is not, take it home, drive safe, and leave it there until they have a real fix. Dealers sometimes will scratch, let your car open, probably a window down, a lot of dust... Nah! They can take your car when they have a solution to offer.

I don't know the laws in your country, but I, for one, wouldn't sign anything. It is my property and no one has the right to seize it and/or to impose conditions for its return. I would demand an unconditional and immediate return of my vehicle, otherwise I would go to the police and file a criminal complaint.
"We'll give you the car if you sign this waiver" is not acceptable. No, you will give me the car, full stop. No ifs, no buts. Right now.
But I don't know, maybe in Australia this kind of thing is somehow legal?
