This may have been asked but I couldn't find anything...Does the rear view camera beep if you get too close to something?? Mine hasn't, but I have tried not to back up too close to anything and didn't want to try it waiting for a beep and hitting something...not sure if it's an actual warning system or just a camera...thanks

Do you have the sensors in the bumper?

If you have the rear park assist you'll get the beeps. Easiest way to tell is when you are in reverse, you will have a top down view of a car in the upper right of the screen with the 4 zones of the sensors.

You need the rear bumper with the sensors. It was a $295.00 option i believe.

I actually really like the cross traffic sensors. They've warned me a few times of oncoming cars that were not in my field of view.

Just so you know - and everyone is clear and thus on the same page:
Cross traffic sensors are different than the original question in this thread - which was about backing up to something too close and the beeping noise.
Cross Traffic Sensors are part of the blind spot monitoring system......and yes the car does beep when it detects cross-traffic coming if you are in reverse.
I've not gotten my LE WW #381 to beep when I back into a parking spot and get too close to something.

If your bumper has the little circles (sensors) it will beep, no sensors no beep, I didn't add them to my car since I hate the look. With the camera and rear view mirror I can live without a beep. My Edge has them and they love to trap wax.

Does someone have pictures of the two bumpers one with sensors and one without to get an idea of how bad it looks?

Parallel parking they beep constantly. Beeps get more and more frequent until, once you're within about three inches of the car behind you, it's just one solid beep tone.

You might not have your mirrors aligned the proper way. There should be very small or non-existant blind spot if you do it correctly.

I appreciate the graphic, but where I have found the cross traffic feature valuable, is backing out of a space with a large vehicle (ie. truck, SUV, etc) on my right and not being able to see traffic from that direction, until the car is sticking out too much. The placement of the mirrors are irrelevant.

For the price I didn't get them. I figured I've done fine without them for years and I also still have the backup camera so that's nice. The mustang I test drove had them and when I was backing it in the beeps actually messed me up by making me think I was closer to another car than I was
