Cushion seems spaces? Are they spaces that are put between the bottom of the upright and the rear of the horizontal part of the seat?

2"L.or so X 2"dia ABS plumbing parts at home Depot and stuck 7 of them them in the seam between upper and lower seat cushion when I was running two bridged channels on Audison AP 8.9 to power sub.

Does anyone have a picture of their convertible with the rear upright portion of their seat removed?
Tony:

Here is what the opening looks like on a 2021 convertible, and I assume it is the same since 2015, perhaps?

The max height with trunk carpet removed is about 10 1/2" tall, which allowed me to build a sub box with dual 10" Kickers.

Tony:
Glad you like the idea- it was much more involved than I planned, but the end result is bass that pounds the cabin on the freeway with the top (and windows) down.

The pics below are my concept sketch, a cardboard mockup and then a test fit.
I had the box designed and the drivers chosen by a pro, and then I built it out.

Do you think its worth me writing up a thread on it?
I recently finished the rear upholstery and don't have photos yet.

How much trunk depth do you lose? Will seats fit back in? Curious looks like a great concept.

Absolutely!! There just isn't enough info out there for us vert guys. And with this design, you are conserving truck space compared to the way i did it. With these tops down, we need all the help we can get as far as stereo sound. I don't know if you saw my idea in previous posts. Since I already mounted a sub box in the trunk, I bought a rear seat delete kit and am gonna cut two holes and mount two jl audio sub trim rings and grills so it looks like two subs are mounted there. In actually, they will only be functioning as two air holes for the sub sounds to come through. I have the trim rings and grills already. I'm just waiting for the rear seat delete kit to get here.

Finally got the garage cleaned out after the holidays and pulled the car in for some well-needed cleaning. Took a couple photos so you can see what I did - the bass level is fantastic, and I hear no road noise form the trunk (which is pretty well deadened) because the box is fitted tightly to the body with some foam here and there to seal it to the "backseat".

We made the decision to store the factory rear seat upper and lower and create a new assembly so our bulldog mix could fit and be safe in back. Haven't decided if I'll upholster the seat bottom with the matching fabric yet, so it has a Home Depot floor mat placed over a piece of 1/2" plywood that I mated to the plastic seat bottom.

The space remaining in the trunk is just under 19" and allowed us to fit soft-sided bags easily last summer and fall as we road-tripped around MN and Wisconsin.

I have an older post offering the black leather to whoever needs it - no takers yet.
Maybe I screwed up and need to re-take the photos with the index card, etc.

Let me know if you have questions - I have spent many hours in early 2024 scouring this site for ideas and learned a lot from this great community!

Are they air vents or subs mounted to the panel? Whew lost a lot of trunk space!!

Did you contemplate monster subs mounted to the panel?

Nope - I know some folks use the "infinite baffle" approach using the trunk as the speaker box, but I can't see how you can keep the bass tight.

My focus was on accuracy, so I built a box with 2 separate sealed cavities. The trunk space and the backseat are the tradeoffs for now, and can go back to original if needed.

The woodworking was tricky and the actual install was pretty challenging but I'm super happy with the results.
