Rear PP Wheel/tire

Well I did a quick search, can't quite find exactly the answer im looking for and im sure its been asked a thousand times. I dont think im going to buy new wheels and tires just yet. So the stock PP wheels will have to make due for a little bit longer. The front pirelli's still have a good amount of meat left, the rears will need replacing probably within the next 5000 miles. Im just shy of 9,000 miles on my car right now. Whats the max effective tire size for the rear 19x9.5 stock performance pack wheel?
And tire recommendations? I'd like something with good dry/wet, but wont wear out in 10,000 miles. I kind of dont want to break the bank either. I know im asking a lot, but looking at some tires people are recommending are kind of ridiculous. 300+ a tire is a no-go for me right now.

305 is the max on a PP 19x9.5.

I know I found that the 305 WILL fit. But it takes away from what the actual tire is supposed to be doing. IE: fucking with the sidewall, contact patch and other things i guess.
I suppose the easiest thing to do is just replace the 275/40/19 tire with the same size, i was just curious if I could go a little wider. I'm not looking to throw the speedo off too much though

Your speedometer won't be off much, but if you like the way your car handles, stick with the 275/40/19. There are lots of tires that last longer than the stock Pirelli tires, but if cost is a big concern, wait to change brands until you need to replace both front and rear, then hop to a different brand tire.

The max on a 9.5 for functional fitment will be a 285/35/19 or 285/40/19 either or will work. this way you utilize the full contact patch.

Which is preferred to retain stock MPH?
I know both will be off, but which one would you rather go with, the 35 side profile or the 40?
I have 3.73's btw, so the taller tire is probably my better bet?

I just recently went from a 275/40 to a 285/40/19 and my speedo is off 1mph @ 80mph. I have manual car w/ 3.73 as well.

Do you notice the taller you're size? Or is it really negligible

I went for the larger width.. To help with traction.. It's been to cold to tell a real difference but I do feel a difference.

And it looks a little meaner in the rear.

Going from a 275/40 to a 285/40 does change the height as well. Since the the 40 means 40% of the width is the sidewall height in mm. Even though negligible, the changes are there. Changing overall tire diameter makes a difference. That's why you will find when an OEM offers many wheel and tire packages the overall tire diameter stays just about the same between all the available wheel packages.

285/40/19 = 27.98" overall tire diameter
275/40/19 = 27.66"
Changes a 3.73 gear to a 3.69
Effects speedo at 65mph to 65.75mph

I know, I was reiterating for the OP what it does to the speedo and gearing and though minimal it mathematical makes a difference. I went back and quoted him as well. It wasn't meant to just be directed towards you. And the speedo difference will change based off your actual speed. The faster you go the more its off.
