I’m replacing the wheel studs on the 500 and after removing the half shaft nut I went to ford to get a replacement nut and ran into an issue.

This is what ford gave me. However in comparing it to the old nut the two are quite different (see pic below)

Wait there’s another twist when the parts guy looked up my vin for the part nothing showed up. Now he’s wondering what the hell is going on, so he looks up the original part number that came on my car and got a different number.

This is the part that came on my car originally. The ford parts warehouse has a butt load of these.
So who has removed the half shaft nut and did you replaced it and what with?
Plus is the part I purchased the correct part# CCPZ-3B477-G? The parts guy said this is an old number.

CCPZ-3B477-G will not work it has a dia of 1 9/16” the half shaft opening in the bearing is 1 7/16” dia. The original nut is 1 7/8”dia.
FYI if you replace your half shaft nuts don’t buy this part # CCPZ-3B477-G get part# kr3z-3b477-a.

Don’t rely on the parts counter to have correct information. They don’t even show the CFTP springs as fitting on a CFTP VIN lol.

That’s probably not the parts guy it’s there computer software. You think we have problems now wait till the car is 20+ years old like my 00R. I couldn’t even get the correct rear brake pads for my 98 cobra in 2000.

I changed out the front hubs on my 12 Boss and used the Ford Racing set.
The front hub nuts have had the same change, one piece and locktite.
Are you sure they won't thread on? The size across the flats is irrelevant to the
thread diameter and pitch.

I didn’t try to thread the nuts on I’m turning them today and ordering two of the correct nuts kr3z-3b477-a.
CCPZ-3B477-G is only 1/8” bigger in dia that’s 1/16” per side contact patch.
kr3z-3b477-a Is 1/2”larger dia that’s 1/4” per side contact patch.
1/16” contact patch might be sufficient for a lower hp car however not 2020 GT500.

The IRS on my 00R the front nut is smaller than the rear nut. Plus the rear nut is torqued to 250lb-ft.

I’m running into similar issues. I had to order a bunch of parts for my CFTP after a mishap. When my parts guy uses my VIN, he has a hard time finding parts for the car. He said Ford’s computer info on these cars is jacked up. I eventually got everything, but it was a hard fought battle.

Gary, that’s cool you have a 00R… it’s one of my favorite vehicles of all time!

Also, for what it’s worth... we did the wheel stud swap on my buddy’s base model. He chose to reuse that nut, which is listed as a one time use item. He has many track days on the car since and hasn’t had an issue.

I have already removed this nut once I thought I would get new nuts this time and keep the old ones as spares.
I believe ford calls a lot of these fasteners one time use because they come with thread locker on them. I use blue thread locker on almost every bolt and have marked all the bolts for movement. So far only one bolt has moved even the oil drain plug has a factory alignment mark and every time I change the oil the two marks align back up.
Has part of my post and pre track event inspection I check the alignment marks this includes the half shaft retaining nut.
