today, I painted my stock chrome looking piece matte black. It came out ok (will post some pics tomorrow, didnt finish til this evening), but I'm not confident that this coating will last very long. I know that we can't just remove the emblem, but what are the options if we want to replace it with some other emblem, or change its appearance more permanently?

Thanks, I wasnt aware of the UPR blacked out option. How difficult is it to remove the rear GT emblem? Anyone know?

I plastidip'd mine and used a few coats of glossifier. Looks pretty good. Super easy to do. Did the same for pony.

I plastidip'd everything, super easy to put on and if you want to take it off it takes 30 seconds. I laugh that ford sells blackout badges for like $40 a piece, when a can of plastidip is 5$ and you could do like 5 cars with it.

Or, you could sell your panel to an Aussie.
We cop a fully shit looking thing. The GT badge that you hate so much would be a MASSIVE upgrade for us over here...

I changed my chrome GT to UPR gloss black. Used the CJPP video as a guide. Getting the panel off is no big deal. I used a utility knife to cut out the back of the plastic rivets in a couple of minutes. The new 1 goes on with 3M tape.

Yes. Most people who do this do it just to be different. If the Aussie cars came with GT and the US smooth, there would be just as many people (mostly the same people) wanting smooth down under and with GT in the US. Now there are exceptions, like myself who want smooth because it just looks better. ;)

I just went to the UPR site to bite the bullet and order the matte black GT emblem...it's $55, which is RIDICULOUS, but I was still gonna do it.

Then they tried to add over $12 for shipping!! That was too much for me, so I canceled the order. I'm not paying $70 for an emblem. :tsk:

Where else can I get a fair price for a GT emblem for the rear decklid?

The emblem itself is no cheaper, but MAK performance has the same UPR emblem and the shipping is free. That's where I just bought mine.

Just dip it man, I've seen a whole bunch of people do it with great results and it takes like 30 minutes to mask and spray it. You literally just peel the overspray right off, there are a ton of how-to vids on youtube. Cream Puff did his and they look good.

I watched a youtube video on how to paint over it with some other type of spray (rustoleum) but I just did it and it was shitty. Plastidip is better? I've never used it
