Rear GT badge for blank decklid

Where does everyone in UK get the GT badge for the rear blank decklid? I don't fancy having to drill holes in for the Ford OEM GT badge. Or is it a case of breaking the tabs on the Ford GT badges and then stick with 3M tape?

I'm an M1 guy, but I can say that when I changed the decklid, they just glued the Mach 1 letters/number on to the new decklid and that worked fine

As another said, you don't need the holes and pins...as long as the replacement covers the body panel holes.

Having worked in manufacturing several decades I can tell you why the holes/pins are there...to ensure the emblem gets located in the right place (quickly) and aligned properly on the assembly line.

I had a 92 T-bird sport that would have benefited from that mistake-proofing feature. I had a dealer straighten the Bird's factory-installed V8 emblem and they made a greater mess. They damaged the bottom side of the emblem prying it off with a hard, sharp tool, damaging the emblem, and reattached the same emblem onto the car. I'm guessing they had to relocate the emblem lower to cover sheetmetal damage. They apparently didn't know about dental floss or fishing wire to separate the double-faced tape. I had them obtain and install a new emblem.

Anyway, you can thank the intended quicker placement/alignment at the factory and fewer warranty claims for that feature as a reason you're having to ask this question.

I think where the Faux Petrol GT cap is on the rear deck, once removed the Flat GT emblem won't cover the holes. Which means I would have to buy blank rear deck with no holes to stick the new flat GT logo on to.

The GT logo is not flat / it’s a little curved to suit the curvature of the panel

I want to replace it with this

I'm not sure if the raised GT emblem van be directly replaced with the 2nd flat one. Due to the holes in the stock rearcdeck which the 2nd one would not cover.

You need another decklid, the dogbowl leaves holes the GT emblem doesn’t cover. MP concepts one from Nemisis is popular and fits pretty well.

No, it’s a OE Ford panel of a USDM car.

I have the chrome badge, but it’s been removed as I had the panel repainted.

The badge could be refitted or replaced with the black GT badge

Or get a second hand/take off USA decklid, which is what I did. Then swapped the chrome for a gloss black GT. The holes do make for easy alignment.

You are correct re the holes on faux gas cap vs plain GT badges.
