With the Michigan Governor pushing the shut down out another 2 weeks until June 12th my question is are we all going to get our cars that we have on order??? I know for a "fact" that with the new rules in place of 6' spacing and many other things that this is going to slow down their normal production line. Just would love to have some feedback at this point from you guys. My car has been on order since July 2nd and I do have a VIN. I also had a scheduled "Build Date" but when the virus hit everything got shut down as you guys know. Iam just starting wonder at this point about the whole thing. I don't want to start a controversy but rather just looking for your opinion. I wonder how the small business owners in Michigan feel at this point. Many other states are now opening up.

I will know more next week when I should start to see movement on the assembly line. As far as I know, May 26th is the date the line should start back up.
There was some movement yesterday with some of the cars that had been produced before the shut down..

I posted this in the Scheduled thread today.

Attention: Changes in status.
These changes happened yesterday:
13 cars Released for Shipment
1 car Received for Shipment
5 cars Released to Penske for stripes
2 cars Received in Production - these cars had been produced but were pulled back into production. This usually happens when they want to do an inspection.

It looks like the plant is finally waking up.

I had my order in July 1st, 2019 with a build date of April 6th before the shut down. I’ve been bumped a few times and I have a build date of June 19th right now.

I share your concerns. I wonder if there’s a chance that they will not build the 5000 for the first year.

Is there a chance that our 2020 orders will be converted to 2021?

When will 2021 production start?

The plan was to build all the cars that had authenticated allocations, as far as I know that is still the plan. There was talk about extending 2020 production into December.

There is no way of knowing what exactly will happen, there are to many outside variables that could affect the outcome. There is no guarantee that there won't be another shutdown, especially in an election year.

Earl ; Right at the moment I've got a bunch of stuff that my wife wants me to get done today---BUT, I'm going to give you a call later if thats ok with you my friend. Thank you for your help and input. When I saw the news that Witmer had shut down Michigan until June 12th, I just assumed that meant the factory had been shut down too.

Earl kinda off topic, but Have you heard or do you know if they have any intentions of changing the front of the 500 to the '18+ front end after the 2020 production? I ask this as since mine is slated for 6/24 and with the possibility tghings can get pushed and we dont know what will happen, my concern is I wont end up with the 2020 look and they might change it to the "refresh" look which then would sour my interest.

Chuck,

The extension shouldn't have any impact to production startup at FRAP. Whitmer gave the green light for automotive production a few weeks back and Ford has been running several plants here in Michigan as of earlier this week.

As a side note: there is a pending lawsuit on whether the Governor's stay at home extensions are legal, as the state legislature did not vote to authorize an extension of her emergency powers. That lawsuit is now with the Michigan Supreme court as of yesterday. It would not surprise me to see the state of emergency and stay at home order lifted sometime next week, but that is for the court to decide.

The 500 look won’t change. Why would they waste all that money on design to change after one year? The 350 and 500 are designed which a lot of specific considerations in mind from aero to cooling and won’t change with the base cars.

Chevy does the same thing with the ZL1 - the only changes it got were new tail lights and some interior updates.

Well When the GT500 first made an appearance it was stated that the old look or old headlights were being used to use up what was left from overstock. If you see the tail lights are the new refresh lights, which is why I asked. If in fact they are using up overstock and have intentions of changing it, then yes I would rather the old lights.

When they decided to go with the composite plastic front fenders and hood they made them for the earlier head light, I believe it was strictly a design decision. So they would have to have new fenders made in order to use the later MY's headlights. I don't think that is going to happen. But I could be wrong.

Well I can only hope mine gets made with the old stock headlights and not the new ones, and the current front end.

If the GT350 didn’t get updated with the new front end, the 500 won’t. Ford isn’t going to dump that kind of money in designing a new front end that works with the cooling they have. They would have to redesign the entire front end, build models to test and work out the bugs. If they were changing something, you’d have seen or heard about a test mule. The profit on these cars for Ford isn’t enough to justify that investment.

Especially with what is going on now, you might not even see the base cars get the rumored 2021 refresh.

The reason for the 2015 style headlights is the composite radiator support that was designed for the GT350 when it first released. They use that same radiator support on the GT500, thats why the headlights are what they are. 2018+ headlights do not fit that radiator support.

This angle says it all for me, could they have come up with a more snake like appearance?
