I have noticed that there are days I go to start my car and the brake pedal is hard. Other times no issues. Does this sound like a stuck or bad valve? I'm hesitant to take it to the dealer for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong especially if it randomly happens. Could it be something else causing it?

If you have a manual transmission I think the clutch shares the brake booster. If you have the A-10 it's probably a booster issue.

Its auto. I know it's a booster issue, but am wondering if it's the check valve considering its random.

I had the same problem on my auto equipped '17 GT. I replaced the check valve and still had the issue. Tried another one and problem solved.

Interesting you had to try 2. Was it hard to replace it?

The check valve is very easy to replace. Just pops out of the booster and a clamp holding the hose on.

I might just replace it myself rather then waste my time at the dealer and see if it fixes things. It's a cheap part.

Mine only does it when it sits for 2 days or more (roughly). It's got 9k on it and has always done it as far as I can remember.

It is only a problem if it stays hard after the engine is running.

Hard peddle tells you the booster does not have a vacuum.

As mentioned above, "it happens after the car sits for 2 days." Yup, vacuum bleeds off, hard pedal . Engine fired, pulls a vacuum all systems go.

You can make it happen every time...
Right after parking the car, engine off. Pump the brakes 2-3 times, the pedal will get hard.
Put foot on brake, and start the car the pedal, will go lower. This is the way a booster is check for proper operation.

My only concern is having to stab the pedal really, really hard to get the switch to engage for push button start. Otherwise, I'm familiar with vacuum brakes.

HUH ? Why would you think changing the check valve would make any difference? Maybe you're not as informed about vacuum brakes as you may think ?

I never mentioned anything about a check valve. Maybe check the posts before you look foolish.

Totally wrong, the only thing shared by those 2 systems is the brake fluid resolver .
